1964

Hurst also served on the Board of Directors in 1964.

1974

In 1974 he was one of the organizers of the petroleum consulting firm of Hansen, Miller, Poyner & Banta.

1981

Vance passed away on December 5, 1981.

1985

SPE became tax-exempt in March 1985.

1987

In 1987, SPEE, in cooperation with other industry groups, formulated and published definitions believed suitable for use throughout the oil and gas industry.

1996

Hurst passed away on December 5, 1996.

2017

6 October 2017 was the 60th anniversary of SPE. In the last sixty years SPE has endeavored to provide resources to petroleum engineers where they need them most.
