Performance Responsibilities: * Cooperate in a timely manner, with School Athletic Office and the District Athletic Department, in regard to requests for pertinent information that might be periodically required. * Meet all requirements set forth by the District Board of Education, the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA), and the Ohio Department of Education in regard to the required Coaches Tool Chest Trainings/Certification and ODE Pupil Activity Permit. * Model the behavior expected of our student-athletes including timeliness to practices, being positive and enthusiastic, being respectful, and practicing constructive criticism while upholding the disciplines of the program. * Set a positive example at all times while with student-athletes, be dressed appropriately at all practices and games, and maintain a suitable sideline conduct at all times. * Provide all applicable in-season training rules as well as any that may apply to out-of-season conduct to team members in writing prior to the start of the season. Follow appropriate due process procedures when violations occur. * Check the status of academic eligibility for all prospective student-athletes. * Follow the District Athletic Department Policy as outlined in the Coaches Handbook and meet all criteria as outlined in the job description. * Recognize the need to be aware of and implement all applicable administrative policies set forth by the District Board of Education, Superintendent of Schools, School Principals, Conference Leagues, and OHSAA. * Schedule and complete a full season of contests including State tournament games. * Begin pre-season practices on the first day permitted for the sport. * Participate in clinics and other available programs to improve coaching performance. * Participate in School events (i.e. Awards Night, Pep Assemblies, Athletic Boosters Meetings, etc.). * Show physical vitality and enthusiasm for the sport and use good judgment in decision-making. * Accept and profit from constructive criticism and suggestions for improving coaching performance. * Is competent in techniques of the sport with players responding positively to directions given. * Demonstrate the ability to adapt properly to changing game situations. * Is well-versed and knowledgeable in matters pertaining to the sport as well as look at ways to constantly improve knowledge and coaching techniques. * Is innovative in using new coaching techniques and ideas in addition to already proven methods of coaching. * Ensure that team is well prepared for opponent(s). * Provide motivation for team to meet/exceed their goals and stress the value of acceptable personal behavior by each student-athlete. * Actively promote good sportsmanship at all times. * Maintain accurate inventory of equipment and supplies. Our classes run on weekdays mid-mornings and evenings until 7 pm. On weekends we start at 8 AM and run through lunchtime. Opportunity for a flexible work schedule depending on studio needs. Additional opportunity to increase scheduled hours through private class coaching hours. To teach them the sport and to have fun. To teach the athletes the rules and fundamentals of the game. To teach team playing. To have complete records, paperwork, budgets etc. *****NOTE: The below lists are not ranked in order of importance. Essential Functions: Ensure safety of students Work within district policies and procedures in the development and maintenance of the interscholastic athletics program Responsible for the issuance, care and inventory of equipment, supplies and uniforms Assist the Head Track Coach in purchasing equipment and supplies Assist the Head Track Coach in scheduling non-league games and officials Ensure the proper conduct and actions of team players at all times Issue equipment and keep accurate records of all equipment issued Collect all equipment at the end of the season Inventory, distribute and procure all equipment Attend coaches meetings Prepare eligibility lists for the Head Track Coach Collect all necessary fees from players Assist players in the care and prevention of injuries Attend rules interpretation meetings Prepare outside facilities for all practice sessions Schedule, plan and conduct all practice sessions and scrimmages Develop and enforce training rules Review and evaluate all game films Schedule and conduct meetings to discuss future opponents Communicate with classroom teachers to determine the achievement level of each player Participate in awards program by distributing awards to the players Evaluate players after each game and at the end of the season Attend clinics, camps and seminars Make contacts with the public with tact and diplomacy Maintain respect at all times for confidential information, e.g., student athlete grades for eligibility purposes, etc. Interact in a positive manner with staff, students and parents Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude and conversation Attend meetings and in-services as required Other Duties and Responsibilities: Report the lineups, scoring plays and other pertinent data of each game to the local newspaper and radio Forward a list of all participants in the sport, along with all information necessary for the eligibility report, to the Head Track Coach Assign lockers and oversee the condition of the locker room Instruct players in the proper use of body building equipment, training and nutrition Prepare and distribute playbooks to all players Organize filming of all games Present and discuss films from previous scrimmages Attend reserve and other inter-district games Instruct and supervise managers in game and practice preparation Attend and participate in Athletic Booster Club meetings Schedule off-season weight lifting and physical conditioning training Schedule fund-raising activities Schedule coaching clinics Procure and distribute all medical supplies and equipment Schedule, record and assist with physical examinations for all players Serve as a role model for students Interact with Superintendent and/or Board of Education and present information as requested Respond to routine questions and requests in an appropriate manner Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Track Coach Qualifications: Five years related experience preferred CPR certification Sports medicine license Alternative to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Board of Education may find appropriate Both Ohio BCI and FBI Background information if applicable.
