As an MPC Commercial intern, you could be placed within one of the departments as described below. Job shadowing and volunteer opportunities are available during internships.

Scheduling:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Scheduling intern to support our team in optimizing resource allocation and production schedules. The Intern will be responsible for scheduling the delivery of light products, feedstocks, and biofuels by pipeline or waterborne transportation to third party and company locations to meet customer's demand (sales forecast). The intern will coordinate pipeline, barge and/or tanker movements for appropriate timing, batch size and sequence of product shipments to optimize the supply of the available products from refineries and terminals, while also minimizing transportation costs and ensuring quality. They will monitor inventories at terminals and refineries daily and adjust shipping schedules to avoid shortages and the use of excess working capital. Additionally, they will develop improved scheduling methods to efficiently utilize company resources, optimize inventory levels, and minimize transportation costs as well as coordinate the communications between terminals, Commercial, Exchange and Product Quality regarding any inventory or operational issue.

Marketing:
Corporate Office-based interns will support the marketing team by analyzing market trends, consumer behavior, and competitive landscapes to identify growth opportunities. This position offers hands-on experience in market research and data-driven decision-making within a dynamic Commercial environment. You will be responsible for writing production-ready code, working to build interactive, data-driven UIs, and be comfortable with visual development and performance tuning.
Position Description:
Creation, analysis, and specification of software requirements
Debug & Problem solving for issues at all stages of product developmentDeveloping and executing tests for software modules (i.e. unit testing, integration testing, etc.)
Review code from peers and mentor junior developers
Work cross-functionally with planning, UX, backend, and robotics teams to deliver production-quality features
Implement and maintain end-to-end (E2E) tests
Participate in technical discussions and contribute to decisions
Build scalable and maintainable frontend features using React, TypeScript, and Material UI
Develop and style interactive views using Less or Sass, aligned with our design system
Create and optimize 2D/3D visualization components using Babylon.js
Work with GraphQL APIs to handle dynamic data fetching, mutations, and use Cypress or similar frameworks
Position Requirements:
Bachelors degree in computer science or a relevant Engineering field
2+ years of experience in frontend development with React, TypeScript, Linux OS, and/or similar environments
Ability to execute component-driven architecture, state management, and modern UI patterns
Experience with Material UI, styling via Less/Sass, GraphQL, and integrating complex API workflows
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, cross-disciplinary engineering environment
Preferred Requirements:
Prior experience in 3D rendering or Babylon.js strongly preferred
Experience with statistical and operational data visualization, including libraries like ECharts, D3.js, or similar.
Experience with mobile development (e.g., React Native or responsive hybrid apps)
Experience with Go or Python, especially in full-stack or integration scenarios
Hands-on experience with end-to-end testing tools (e.g., Cypress, Playwright)
