The Department (ITD) is looking for a Software Developer Intern. While completing a degree in programming, computer science or software engineering, the intern will get a chance to experience working in one of the largest county IT infrastructures. This opportunity will give the intern hands on experience with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). The Intern will also learn and assist with the following: * Analyzing written and verbal customer descriptions of system problems and requirements which translates into technical definitions for automated system design and construction. * Designing and architecting basic computer systems where few if any similar systems are in existence. * Designing basic relational databases using the normalization process of organizing data within the database. * Writing detailed program specifications; define input/output data relationships, and sequence of operations necessary to perform programming for basic systems and subsystems. * Writing computer code using county approved computer languages to solve problems with existing programs and to create new interfaces and applications from design requirements. * Participating in user meetings in conceptual design phase of development to clarify user needs and define technical problems or benefits that will result from alternative system designs. This opportunity is designed to create a pipeline into a regular Programmer Analyst Associate position with the County.
