The Senior Engineer will be involved with a variety of engineering initiatives that focus on New Product Development (NPD) and continuous improvement of existing products to exceed customer expectations, national standards, and internal requirements for quality, cost, and manufacturability within the Zurn product lines.
Reports to: NPD Engineering Manager
Key Focus Areas
* Integral member of New Product Development team that works closely with cross functional teams to support the design aspects of new product launches.
* Complete assigned deliverables in a timely and accurate manner as required by the Zurn Product Development Process (ZPDP)
* Manage the design and development of products to fulfill the needs of internal and external customers.
* Influences project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards; completing technical studies; preparing project cost estimates.
* Research and make recommendations for design enhancements or modifications to support cost reduction and quality improvements
* Work closely with the lab technicians to develop and execute in house validation tests and field test programs.
* Complete design project assignments in a timely efficient manner.
* Works closely with the drafting/design team to properly manage engineering documentation such as bills of material, submittals, detail drawings and revisions, and installation instructions within the existing document control system.
* Develops and Maintains product documentation, including but not limited to Bill-Of-Materials (BOM) and configured kit information, submittals, installation instructions, and SOPs.
* Maintains safe and clean working environment by enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations.
* Provide technical and training support to internal and external customers, as needed.
* Any other job duties as assigned; a wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
Qualifications
* Minimum 10 years' experience in Mechanical Engineering design.
* BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field, Master's Degree preferred.
* Strong project management skills, ability to manage multiple projects at one time.
* Demonstrated ability to execute project deliverables.
* Ability to work proficiently on a cross functional team to achieve project goals.
* Proficient with 3D design, preferably with Autodesk Inventor.
* Proficient with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
* Proficient with designing for manufacturing.
* Detail oriented, self-motivated, hands-on individual.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with internal and external customers.
* Some domestic or international travel may be required.

JOB SUMMARY:

Requirements
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (not all inclusive)
· Assist in preventive maintenance program.
· Design, develop, implement, and maintain automation systems to improve efficiency and consistency.
· Responds to inquiries about projects, provides updates and reports to management.
· Identify and implement improvements to automation systems to enhance efficiency, reduce downtime, and optimize production processes.
· Work closely with production teams to implement upgrades and process enhancements.
· Collaborate with engineering, production, and maintenance teams to ensure seamless integration of automated systems.
· Develop and maintain documentation, including system designs, programming files, and operating procedures.
· Provide training and technical support to maintenance teams and operators on PLC programming, control system troubleshooting, and automation systems as needed.
· Assist with the programming, integration, and troubleshooting of robotic systems to ensure seamless interaction between robots and PLC-controlled.
· Performs other duties as assigned to support process improvements to continue sustained growth.
· Supports all Presrite locations as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
· BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
· Minimum of 3 years of experience in automation engineering, to include robotics and PLC programming, preferably in steel forging or related manufacturing environments.
· Demonstrate strong knowledge of safety regulations and best practices.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
· PLC programming, reading and modifying electrical control schematics, machine integration, and electrical troubleshooting skills.
