Design, code, and implement software for embedded devices and systems on unmanned aircraft and test out those devices in flight test environments.
Write and test software to support the integration of sensors and processors into aircraft (such as autopilots, payloads, radios, or other functional components).
Debug, troubleshoot, and isolate software issues.

Requirements:

Proficient in C/C++ in a real-time embedded environment.
Experience using Matlab and Simulink.

Read and understand electrical hardware schematics.
Practical experience writing firmware/embedded code for a physical device.
Fundamental knowledge of low-level firmware.

Key job responsibilities
An SDE on the Cycle Planning team collaborates both within the team and with SDEs on adjacent teams, with TPMs and PM-Ts, to deliver scalable software that makes optimization decisions on when packages should be dispatched. SDEs also mentor intern/apprentice and junior engineers, improve the performance, maintainability, and availability of existing software, and respond quickly to high severity events. Engineers on this team work closely with Science, Tech SMEs, Program and Product managers across the Last Mile organization, as well as business PMs to resolve any production issues and support expansion and feature launches.
A day in the life
SDEs design, implement, and operate our running software. Daily activities may include attending daily team scrum meetings, estimation of future tasks, design discussions and reviews, as well as coding and reviewing other code reviews and performing deployment and monitoring duties. SDEs are also responsible for learning necessary and ancillary skills (both hard and soft) as well as mentoring others and being mentored. All engineers are also expected to participate (after suitable onboarding) in a weeklong oncall shift, during which they must be available if called 24/7 during the shift.

Irregular, yet frequent travel is required for this position, including overnight hotel stays. Available hours must be flexible for on-call work, including nights and weekends. Hourly pay with OT compensation is negotiable, based on experience. This position has the flexibility of basing out of the San Luis Obispo or Bay Area regions. Pay will be adjusted accordingly dependent on the base of operations.
Any employee that has accepted the position of AOG Lead is required to competently perform within the following job description. The AOG Lead is responsible for oversight and performance of aircraft maintenance assigned by the AOG Manager. Once they have been assigned the job, they are to organize, implement, supervise, and perform maintenance. They are to communicate professionally and in a timely manner to the AOG Manager. They are to perform the maintenance as described by the manufacturer's specifications and to the standards set forth by ACI Jet. They are to communicate any concerns or lack of capabilities to the AOG Manager. This position requires the ability to work independently, as well as work in a supervisory role to one, and occasionally two assistant technicians. Avionics experience is a huge plus and compensation will be adjusted accordingly.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Duties include the following (other duties may be assigned as required by management):
Report daily to the AOG Manager.
Direct coordination and supervision of AOG technicians and AOG maintenance projects.
Complete tasks assigned in accordance with the procedures set forth in ACI Jet's Air Carrier Operations Manual (ACOM).
Coordinate with the AOG Manager to ensure a safe and efficient repair and return to service of AOG aircraft.
Comply with all FARs, Operations Specifications, Company Policies, and Company Procedures.
Ensure appropriate technical data is used during the performance of maintenance, preventive maintenance, and alteration activities.
Ensure AOG vehicles and work areas are maintained in a clean and orderly manner.
Must follow airport, TSA, and DOT requirements for operating a motor vehicle.
Ensure all maintenance or alterations processes are appropriately completed and documented as required by the operator and in accordance with the applicable FARs.
Submit all required work orders, reports, receipts, time cards (Paylocity), and other company forms and records to the AOG Manager in a timely and organized manner.
Maintain a close, productive, and beneficial relationship with ACI Jet managers, peers, colleagues, manufacturer's representatives, customers, and other repair facilities.
Ensure safety and quality of all assigned duties and responsibilities by actively and positively participating in ACI Jet's SQMS program.
Must be available for unscheduled on-call/call-out maintenance events 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays, as part of a rotating on-call schedule. Scheduled time off is accommodated.
Must be available to perform unscheduled AOG maintenance in the field at remote locations requiring travel and overnight lodging at hotels, when scheduled.
Must document all maintenance performed in the Corridor maintenance records database correctly and accurately.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Required
A passion for aviation.
At least three years of AOG or unscheduled RON/Line station maintenance experience as a Lead or supervisor. Part 145 Repair Station experience a plus.
Work experience must include troubleshooting, the use of specialized tools, ground support equipment, and the use of aircraft maintenance manuals, parts catalogs, technical reports, and forms.
