Candidates will start in the fall of 2026. Department overview: Over the last ten years, Boise State University has made a significant investment in the growth of the Department of Computer Science, with nineteen new faculty lines, a building in downtown Boise, and several new undergraduate and graduate programs. This investment has enabled the department to more than triple in size over the last ten years to twenty seven faculty (19 tenure-track) and now awards 100+ undergraduate degrees and 20-30 MS/PhD degrees each year. The undergraduate degree in Computer Science offers emphasis areas in Cybersecurity, Machine Learning, Entrepreneurship, and Secondary Education, with enrollment averaging around 700 students. A new undergraduate degree in Artificial Intelligence Science was started in Fall 2025. An interdisciplinary Ph.D. in Computing program was started in 2016, with emphasis areas in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Computer Science, and Computational Math Science & Engineering. The PhD program has quickly grown to be the largest PhD program at Boise State with 80+ students, and faculty participation from a multitude of departments across campus.
