The program provides meaningful and relevant work experience, professional development activities, and offers interns networking opportunities with other interns across the Commonwealth, all while working alongside program and field professionals, state government leaders. The Team Kentucky Internship Program is a prestigious and competitive program; therefore, interested applicants must complete an online application and be vetted through an interview process. Those selected for the program will perform valuable work in our state agencies. A Day in the Life - * Gather, analyze, and present research and data to support economic development projects and strategic initiatives. * Develop regional profiles for each defined region- to include a highlight on sites/buildings, key industry, quality of life offerings and unique workforce attributes. * Gain a foundational understanding of key concepts in economic development. * Gain knowledge of the diverse and unique characteristics of East, West, Central and South Central Kentucky. * Packaging of those characteristics in a way that can be shared to site selectors, prospects, tourism, and community development partners, with the goal of attracting new investment or talent. * Acquire knowledge about the role of data and research in supporting economic development projects and strategic initiatives. * Learn to collect, organize, and analyze data from public sources, such as the Bureau of Labor Statistics, and third-party applications (e.g. JobsEQ). * Develop skills in writing summaries and reports pertaining to research-related projects. * The position will involve collaboration with other Cabinet departments to complete assignments.
