A day in the life • Coordinate efforts to model optimal solutions and processes for the sortation and transportation network through material flow, process design, site layout, and intellectual property considerations • Working with teams across Amazon to identify opportunities and provide data driven decision support to improve capacity and material flow optimization tools, material flow performance, simulation, and emulation of existing site performance. •Simultaneously manage multiple projects and tasks while effectively influencing, negotiating, and communicating with internal and external business partners • Building strong partnership with operations field leaders to understand improvement opportunities. • Analyzing and solving operational barriers with a focus on understanding root causes and driving forward solves. • Collaborating with BI/Data Engineer teams to develop new and existing data sources to continually improve data quality. • Effective communication skills, ability to execute the vision, detailed roadmap, and specific technical solutions. • Travel 30% - 50% domestically although travel intensity can be variable. About the team The NASC Under-the-Roof Optimization AMP Team's sole objective is to develop tools for under the roof simulation and optimization, supporting the needs of our internal and external stakeholders (i.e. Capacity Planning, Labor Planning, NASC Engineering, Finance, Safety and Operations). We develop products and tools to evaluate what-if design and operations scenarios for new and existing sort centers to understand their robustness, stability, scalability, and cost-effectiveness. Serve as Subject Matter Expert for embedded software, firmware, controls, and communications. · Run day-to-day Software Development activities: standups, dependency/risk management, unblock the team, coordinate cross-functionally. · Establish and enforce engineering standards (coding, version control, CI, test automation, defect tracking). · Oversee the development, negotiation, and approval of Interface Control Documents with external suppliers, and manage supplier engagement projects. · Promote continuous learning and innovation - balance new technical approaches with pragmatic, production-ready solutions. · Collaborate in planning and development with cross-functional teams such as Systems, Validation, Hardware, and Product. · Manage New Product Development, Continuous Improvement, and Issue projects with urgency, accuracy, and accountability. Required Qualifications · B.S in Electrical, Computer, Software, Mechanical Engineering, or related field. · 7+ years automotive embedded software experience, including 1-3 years in technical leadership/people leadership. · Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems; experience with model-based development (MATLAB/Simulink). · Solid understanding of embedded software, controls, firmware, architecture, and communication (CAN, LIN, UDS, J1979, OBDII, etc.) · Proven project planning and defect tracking in Jira. · Strong organization, communication, and problem-solving skills. · Experience managing internal and supplier interfacing projects. Preferred Qualifications · Master's degree in engineering or related field. · Passionate about automotive and powertrain vehicles and systems. · Experience integrating software, validation, calibration, or diagnostic functions. · Knowledge of Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) fundamentals and Engine Management Systems.
