The mission of the AI Infrastructure team is to create highly available, reliable, and performant AI and information retrieval systems that are delightful for our ML Engineers to productively use. To do this, our distributed search platform must scale seamlessly across data and traffic, while enabling engineers to rapidly innovate, experiment and improve relevance. Any engineer within LinkedIn can use our platform to quickly build their own solution, searching their specific document corpus. Our platform also ensures it will operate with performance, scalability and stability.
As Engineering Director of the information retrieval control plane (which includes hosted search) you will directly lead a team of 50+ engineers and managers, as well as embedded SREs and TPMs. You will partner with engineering, infrastructure, product, and business leaders across LinkedIn to drive the core technical agenda for this domain.
This individual will be a core member of LinkedIn's AI Infrastructure engineering leadership team. This leader will be a key contributor to the future success of the business and LinkedIn - as this team creates member and customer value from LinkedIn's economic graph.
The successful candidate will be a strong thought leader in the technology space, with the ability to build and execute at scale, and an inspirational people leader, overseeing a large team of engineers solving big problems.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
* 5+ years of software engineering management experience
* 4+ years experience in one of the following areas: data infrastructure, search infrastructure, or ML platforms
* B.A./B.S. degree or higher, or equivalent experience
Preferred Qualifications
* Good understanding of the nature of AI models and the complexity of serving them
* Good understanding of the AI model development and validation processes
* Hands on experience of developing large scale distributed systems
* Experience attracting, retaining, and developing top engineering and operations talent throughout the industry.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills.

The pay range for this role is $226,000 to $369,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
