Senior Business Intelligence Engineer, Infra Supply Chain Automation
Software test engineer job in Seattle, WA
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we're the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain - and we're looking for talented people who want to help.
You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You'll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. Hence, the successful BIE will not only possess the expertise and passion for analyzing data, designing metrics to measure the performance of the business, and building reporting capabilities and tools, but also will interact directly with business leaders and teams that rely on the metrics and analyses that they produce.
The Senior business intelligence engineer must be a self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity, able to think big and be creative (while still paying careful attention to detail), and enjoy working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. If you are excited about data, are results-oriented, and want to join a growing analytics team within Amazon - this role is for you!

- Design, develop and maintain scaled, automated, user-friendly systems, reports, dashboards, etc. that will support the needs of the business.
- Apply deep analytic and business intelligence skills to extract meaningful insights and learning from large and complicated data sets.
- Be hands-on with ETL to build data pipeline to support automated reporting.
- Serve as liaison between the business and technical teams to achieve the goal of providing actionable insights into current business performance, and ad hoc analyses to support future improvements or innovations. This will require data gathering and manipulation, problem solving, and communication of insights and recommendations.
- Build various data visualizations to tell the story of business trends, patterns, and outliers through rich visualizations.
- Recognize and adopt best practices in reporting and analysis: data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation.

Strong software development using Python, System level programming and ML knowledge are both critical to this role. Our engineers collaborate across compiler, runtime, framework, and hardware teams to optimize machine learning workloads for our global customer base. Working at the intersection of software, hardware, and machine learning systems, you'll bring expertise in low-level optimization, system architecture, and ML model acceleration. In this role, you will:
* Design, develop, and optimize machine learning models and frameworks for deployment on custom ML hardware accelerators.
* Participate in all stages of the ML system development lifecycle including distributed computing based architecture design, implementation, performance profiling, hardware-specific optimizations, testing and production deployment.
* Build infrastructure to systematically analyze and onboard multiple models with diverse architecture.
* Design and implement high-performance kernels and features for ML operations, leveraging the Neuron architecture and programming models
* Analyze and optimize system-level performance across multiple generations of Neuron hardware
* Conduct detailed performance analysis using profiling tools to identify and resolve bottlenecks
* Implement optimizations such as fusion, sharding, tiling, and scheduling
* Conduct comprehensive testing, including unit and end-to-end model testing with continuous deployment and releases through pipelines.
* Work directly with customers to enable and optimize their ML models on AWS accelerators
* Collaborate across teams to develop innovative optimization techniques
A day in the life
You will collaborate with a cross-functional team of applied scientists, system engineers, and product managers to deliver state-of-the-art inference capabilities for Generative AI applications. Your work will involve debugging performance issues, optimizing memory usage, and shaping the future of Neuron's inference stack across Amazon and the Open Source Community. As you design and code solutions to help our team drive efficiencies in software architecture, you'll create metrics, implement automation and other improvements, and resolve the root cause of software defects.
You will also build high-impact solutions to deliver to our large customer base and participate in design discussions, code review, and communicate with internal and external stakeholders. You will work cross-functionally to help drive business decisions with your technical input. You will work in a startup-like development environment, where you're always working on the most important initiative.
