Some places are better than others when it comes to starting a career as a software tester. The best states for people in this position are New Hampshire, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Maryland. Software testers make the most in New Hampshire with an average salary of $87,748. Whereas in New Jersey and Massachusetts, they would average $83,574 and $82,388, respectively. While software testers would only make an average of $79,354 in Maryland, you would still make more there than in the rest of the country. We determined these as the best states based on job availability and pay.
