Solar Turbines' engineering intern positions are created to provide students with challenging projects that play a key role in supporting gas turbine package and system design, as well as associated development activities. Under the guidance of mentors, students are given meaningful work experience while gaining exposure to the entire corporate environment. This includes training courses, networking events, and facility tours, along with a challenging project assignment to complete that enables them the opportunity to apply classroom education to real work situations. Positions are available in mechanical, controls, systems, software and display development fields. This Internship is an eleven-week program.
Interns will get the opportunity to join a Solar Turbines Employee Resource Group, receive mentorship, engage in special events and luncheons with peers, hear from keynote speakers and much more. These openings will allow interns to benefit in the following ways:
What You Have - Skills and Experiences:
* Currently in the process of obtaining a 4-year or advanced degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or other relevant degree
* Must be classified by school in Fall 2026 as one of the following: Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or Graduate student
* Overall GPA of at least 2.8 on a 4.0 scale

Job Description
Our organization is comprised of several diverse engineering functions including:

Under the guidance of a mentor, interns are given meaningful work experiences, a project assignment to complete, and the opportunity to apply classroom education to real work situations.
Responsibilities may include numerous analytical simulations (FEA, CFD, amongst others), test performance, data analysis, materials research, engine assembly support, research of advanced technologies and the design & development of hardware for gas turbine products. The job role may also include manufacturing support, development engine or rig testing, instrumentation, engine performance analysis and development of design tools. The design and development efforts are in support of high-level product needs of durability, reliability, performance, cost, and manufacturability.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Currently in the process of obtaining a 4 year or advanced degree in Engineering or other relevant degree.
* Classified by your school as a Sophomore, Junior, Senior planning to attend graduate school, or currently attending graduate school.

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, this Summer, we're looking to add a Mechanical Design Engineering Intern located in our Austin, TX site.
Reporting to the Mechanical Design Engineering Manager, the student will assist with daily engineering tasks while learning, collaborating and working alongside Engineers and cross-functional teams.
What a typical day looks like:
Support Various Programs with Tooling Design and Tooling Maintenance Support
Perform Tolerance Analysis
Run and process 3D Prints
Create and release drawings, interface with internal machine shop
Create mechanical design concepts for various products and clients using mechanical tools.
Work with the team to build and test prototypes.
Diagnose and make recommendation on prototypes, assembly or design failures.
Attend team meetings to support project work/deliverables as needed
Student qualities we're seeking for this internship assignment:
Jr/Sr student pursuing degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering major
3D CAD experience (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, NX, Creo)
Understanding of GD&T/Dimensional Management
3D Printing experience, Manual or CNC milling/lathe experience
Samples of hands-on Design Project or work experience - HIGHLY PREFERRED! (include portfolio link in resume)
Strong organizational, analytical and problem solving skills
Strong verbal, presentation and written communication skills
Ability to work in teams and collaborate with others
Self-motivated, high energy and strong time management skills
Internship Program Requirements:
Available to start on May 26th and work 40 hours/week (in-person) for 10-12 week Summer assignment
Currently enrolled in 4-year accredited university

Summer Internship Project Overview:

Qualifications:
To be considered for an internship with Linde Inc. you must meet the following:
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Must be actively working towards a BS in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.

Level 2 - Core Project Engineering: Budgeting, cost control, risk management, BIM/AutoCAD, jobsite coordination, and OSHA/NFPA safety standards.
Level 3 - Advanced Skills: Client relations, contract review, job costing, profitability analysis, leadership, and certifications such as OSHA 30, PMP, or CM-Lean.
