Solar installation manager job description

The Origination Manager will identify opportunities to develop distributed solar and energy storage projects, ranging in size from 500kW to 5MW. The candidate will establish and grow origination channels and form relationships with businesses and landowners, growing the pipeline of sites for development.

Project development is multidisciplinary, bringing together many key aspects of the renewable energy industry. The ideal candidate will be familiar with evaluating land parcels and rooftop opportunities, establishing communication with land and building owners, and negotiating to secure land/roof rights.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute strategy for origination, qualification, and securing site control of land parcels and roof leases in the region
• Collaborate closely with the development team to target priority geographies and evaluate site feasibility
• Engage with land and building owners to negotiate and execute options to lease or purchase
• Form and maintain relationships with stakeholders including landowners, utilities, and other authorities

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience in a role with transferrable knowledge and skills (renewable energy, corporate partnerships, real estate, land leasing, etc.)
• Demonstrated business acumen, including relationship building and negotiating
• Ability to analyze information, interpret data, and solve practical problems
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing
• Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to prioritize workload
• Self-starter who likes to consistently meet and exceed targets
• Experience with MS Office, utilizing CRMs, shared folder drives, and similar tools
• Preference for candidates who have prior experience working in renewable energy, real estate, or both
• Willingness to travel within the region as required

Blue Raven Solar is seeking a Regional Install Manager to manage crews on solar installation projects for our market in the Indianapolis, IN region. They will be responsible for leading our teams in the installation of grid-tied solar PV systems and for communicating job status data to management on a consistent basis. Candidates for this position should be reliable, able to lead others, be highly skilled and experienced in residential PV installation, and place a high value on quality work. Regional Installation Managers are Blue Raven Solar management in the field, and have a high level of responsibility placed on their shoulders.

Responsibilities:

+ Provide leadership and technical expertise for the PV installation crews

+ Communicate the necessary job status information to the project management team to assure the successful operation of complete and working systems

+ Lead efforts for safe working practices for entire installation team

+ Perform mechanical/structural mounting of racking, modules, and electrical equipment along with the wiring of solar array (AC and DC)

+ Document completion of each installation with pictures

Qualifications:

+ Residential solar installation (3+ years) or construction experience (4+ years) required

+ Electrical experience (state license preferred but not required)

+ Construction management experience

+ OSHA 10 or higher

+ Maintain a high level of professionalism and attention to detail

+ Possession of a valid driver's license

+ Must be comfortable working at heights in various weather and roof conditions

+ Must follow direction by superiors to complete the tasks assigned

About the Site

The Maple Flats Energy Center is a 250 MW-AC solar powered generation facility located in Louisville IL, utilizing TMEIC inverters, NEXTracker trackers, and Longi modules, with an attached substation.

Position Overview

As an Operations & Maintenance Manager you will be responsible for managing the Maple Flats Energy Center.

Responsibilities

+ Manage all aspects of the day to day operation of the facility in a safe and environmentally sound manner.

+ Prepare and implement plant operating and maintenance procedures ensuring compliance with all Federal, State and Local requirements.

+ Recruit, select, train and manage plant operating, maintenance and administrative staff.

+ Prepare annual operating budgets and periodic status reports.

+ Interface and coordinate with local customers and suppliers.

+ Procure parts, materials, services and support resolution of technical issues.

+ Ensure compliance with all project safety, environmental and contractual responsibilities.

+ Provide a high level of professionalism and technical expertise.

+ Perform routine Quality Assurance checks of solar technician work.

+ Assist solar technicians from time to time in various solar maintenance and troubleshooting activities.

Required Skills

+ High School Diploma or Equivalent.

+ A minimum of two (2) years of supervisory/management experience.

+ A minimum of 10 years of experience in a manufacturing or skilled trade environment.

+ Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office software.

+ Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

+ Must be able to work outdoors in inclement weather, climb portable ladders without assistance

+ This position may require the ability to remotely manage new projects within a region, so candidate must be willing to travel up to 50% as business needs warrant.

+ Willing to work nights during scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities

+ Ability to move and manipulate up to 45 kg (100 pounds).

+ Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

Preferred Education and/or Work Experience

+ Experience in power generation facilities

+ Experience with PV maintenance, including DC systems, AC medium voltage systems, and network communications and monitoring

+ Experience with the operation of various SCADA systems

+ Skilled in the use of testing equipment and tools such as Thermographic Electrical Inspection, I-V Curve Tracing, Meggers, and Ground Fault Detection

+ Strong Analytical and Diagnostic capabilities to troubleshoot and correct problems found

+ Knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA, and other standard practices

+ Ability to read and understand electrical single-line and three-line diagrams / schematics
