The Solar Project Engineer will play an integral role in the commercialization and delivery of onsite solutions for third-party customers. He/she will be expected to be knowledgeable of the solutions Shell offers and work with Sales and Project Developers to design and develop the optimal behind-the-meter solar PV and battery systems and support the Project Managers through detailed design, permitting and interconnection approvals.

**Responsibilities**
+ Attend site qualification visits to collect information required to complete the preliminary design and proposals for solar PV & battery systems
+ Work with Sales Engineers and Product Managers to develop high quality proposals for energy solutions deployments
+ Utilize solar modeling / production estimating tools such as Helioscope to develop appropriate design solutions
+ Develop structural and electrical conceptual design in coordination with engineering contractors to support permit filings and utility interconnection applications
+ Provide technical support and deliverables as required for utility specific interconnection applications and approvals, performance validation models and commercial operation
+ Support cost estimation and schedule development for assigned opportunities
+ Conduct detailed design review and assurance as required on solar and battery projects
+ Coordinate/support Product Managers and Supply Chain to vet and standardize equipment selection
**Qualifications**
+ Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
+ Bachelor's degree in a technical field is required, preferably Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
+ Minimum of 5 years' experience in performing design, development and permitting activities with PV systems and other renewable energy technologies, preferably with a focus on commercial and/or utility-scale projects
+ Proficiency in Helioscope, PVSyst and AutoCAD is required
+ Strong familiarity with utility and AHJ practices and relevant industry codes and standards (NEC, IBC, NFPA etc.)

The Solar Project Engineer will play an integral role in the commercialization and delivery of onsite solutions for third-party customers. He/she will be expected to be knowledgeable of the solutions Shell offers and work with Sales and Project Developers to design and develop the optimal behind-the-meter solar PV and battery systems and support the Project Managers through detailed design, permitting and interconnection approvals.
This role will report to the Solutions Development and Delivery Manager.
**Responsibilities**
+ Attend site qualification visits to collect information required to complete the preliminary design and proposals for solar PV & battery systems
+ Work with Sales Engineers and Product Managers to develop high quality proposals for energy solutions deployments
+ Utilize solar modeling / production estimating tools such as Helioscope to develop appropriate design solutions
+ Develop structural and electrical conceptual design in coordination with engineering contractors to support permit filings and utility interconnection applications
+ Provide technical support and deliverables as required for utility specific interconnection applications and approvals, performance validation models and commercial operation
+ Support cost estimation and schedule development for assigned opportunities
+ Conduct detailed design review and assurance as required on solar and battery projects
+ Coordinate/support Product Managers and Supply Chain to vet and standardize equipment selection
**Qualifications**
+ Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
+ Bachelor's degree in a technical field is required, preferably Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
+ Minimum of 5 years' experience in performing design, development and permitting activities with PV systems and other renewable energy technologies, preferably with a focus on commercial and/or utility-scale projects
+ Proficiency in Helioscope, PVSyst and AutoCAD is required
+ Strong familiarity with utility and AHJ practices and relevant industry codes and standards (NEC, IBC, NFPA etc.)
+ A working technical understanding of the range of the relevant technologies within the solar, energy storage, and microgrid controls category.
+ A working understanding of electrical and structural design and permitting for behind-the-meter energy projects.
+ Experience on full EPC, Design/build projects from development to COD
+ Cross-business collaboration experience. Demonstrated prior work with multiple disciplines is preferred (technical, commercial, financial, legal, regulatory, external affairs)
+ Knowledge of relevant tax and regulatory considerations applicable to the solar and storage industry including investment tax credits and State incentives.
+ Comfortable working for a dynamic organization with a fast-growing customer base with diverse needs
