These Medical Disability Examinations are crucial in the VA's process for determining benefits Veterans can receive because of service-connected health issues. Our valuable clinical insights will play a significant role in facilitating access to treatment subspecialists, when necessary, which can create exceptional continuity of care for those who need it the most.
Clinical Examiners will be guided through a web-based examination form in a proprietary online system, which will enable you to capture patient information throughout the examination process. Qualified candidates must hold an active license, possess the ability to work independently and collaboratively, demonstrate strong people skills, and be adaptable to changing situations. Basic computer skills are also required for this role.

QUALIFICATIONS
* Education and Licensing: Graduate of a school of professional nursing accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. A valid and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license and is not barred from practicing in any of the 50 States, the District of Columbia, or a Commonwealth, territory, or possession of the United States.
* Required at least 1 year of experience working as a Nurse Practitioner.
* Experience: Previous experience in conducting medical disability examinations or a related field is preferred
* Basic Life Support certification required, including renewals.).

About the Role: Registered Nurses are integral members of the multidisciplinary healthcare team, tasked with providing professional nursing care to inmates. You will contribute significantly to patient care quality and medical outcomes by developing, implementing, and evaluating treatment plans to meet inmate healthcare needs in line with Virginia Department of Corrections Standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide comprehensive professional nursing care and treatment to inmates.
* Conduct needs assessments and develop, implement, and evaluate treatment plans.
* Apply principles and practices of professional registered nursing care acquired through formal education and training.
* Make contacts with patients, medical support staff, supervisory nurses, and physicians.
* Lead LPNs and direct medical service support staff.
* Use discretion and judgment frequently in patient assessment and case management.
* Receive guidance and direction from a nursing supervisor, manager, or medical professional.
Required Qualifications:
* Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing with an Associate degree in nursing or higher.
* Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Virginia and/or hold an active Compact/Multi-State RN license.
* Current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider certification.
Pay: $33.00 - $51.00 per hour, based on qualifications and experience.
