Colorado-based startup veteran with experience in the defense, space & energy storage industries. I currently run venture-backed Solid Power and was previously CEO and Board Chairman of Roccor, which was acquired by Redwire Space in 2020. I co-founded both companies in 2012.

Chief Operations Officer at Solid Power, Inc. - an industry-leading developer of next-generation all-solid-state batteries. As COO, I coordinate and execute activities associated with transferring core technology from R&D to production, build supply stability to support technology transfer, ensure needed cost reductions in process and materials to achieve targets required for significant market penetration and create value for Solid Power stakeholders.

I previously served as Vice President of Global Research & Development at A123 Systems with responsibilities ranging from new technology development and IP generation, to customer and strategic partner engagement, to production strategy and supply chain rationalization.

During my tenure at A123, my team booked over $7B USD in new business and accounted for over $100M USD in product cost savings. My global responsibilities included a team of approximately 140 PhD scientists, engineers and technicians at strategic R&D sites in China, Europe, and the United States, which I grew organically from approximately 30 personnel.

I also currently serve as a Director on the Board of Directors for Symbios Technologies and as Technology Advisor Board Member for Bia Power.

I am firm believer in giving back to the community and, at A123 Systems, spearheaded and funded outreach programs aimed at aspiring young scientists just beginning their careers to curious students graduating from elementary school. I also serve as Treasure of Fields of Hope, a non-profit founded in Fort Collins, CO focusing on enriching the lives of at-risk youth.

I’m a graduate of Colorado State University and the University of Florida with 17 peer reviewed publications and over 40 patents.

Strong information technology professional with a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering focused in Materials Science from Colorado State University.

Stephen Fuhrman is a CFO at Solid Power Inc and is based in Louisville, Colorado. He has worked as VP Finance at Picosecond Pulse Labs, Sr. Controller at Lefthand Networks, and Board Member at San Juan Technologies. Stephen studied at Daniels College of Business between 1975 and 1979 and University of Denver between 1975 and 1979.
