Monitor and analyze the software performance, quality, security, and scalability, and identify and resolve any issues or risks.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or related field
10+ years' experience in software engineering
5+ years' experience in software architecture and design
Prior experience within Banking and/or Fintech
Proven track record of designing, developing, and delivering complex and scalable software solutions for online and mobile applications, preferably for both B2B and B2C customers

Compensation:
The target salary range for this position is 230,350 - 298,100 USD. The salary offered will be determined by the candidate's location, qualifications, experience, and education and may be outside of this range. As a member of Sony Interactive Entertainment's architecture, you'll have the opportunity to shape the future of distributed systems that power PlayStation's platforms and services. We are looking for a Staff Solution Architect to provide technical leadership across high-impact initiatives, bridging engineering teams, business needs, and future-facing modernization efforts.
In this role, you will apply deep technical expertise in distributed systems, cloud-native platforms, and Kubernetes to define scalable architectures, mentor teams, and drive cross-org alignment. You will work with creative, forward-thinking, and collaborative teammates across infrastructure, product engineering, and partner-facing groups to enable innovation while ensuring resilient, future-ready platforms.

Responsibilities
Lead the design and evolution of distributed system architectures that support core SIE platforms and services.
Drive cross-org collaboration through technical forums, ensuring alignment on modernization, platform resilience, and developer experience.
Contribute to the broader SIE technology strategy, especially in areas like GenAI adoption, AI-assisted developer productivity, and cloud-native modernization
Engage in hands-on development to prototype new solutions, validate architectural decisions, and model best practices for engineering teams.
Mentor and guide engineers at all levels, helping staff and senior engineers grow into architectural leaders.
Serve as a bridge across multiple teams, balancing business impact, technical debt, and long-term platform strategy.
Develop patterns and reference architectures for Kubernetes, CRDs, and Operators, promoting consistency and reuse across teams.
Provide thought leadership on future-state blueprints, including hybrid hosting, service mesh, multi-region resilience, and data movement patterns.
Partnering with product leads to co-define user journeys, ensuring technical design enables scalable and developer-friendly workflows.
Escalate and resolve complex production issues with architectural insight, guiding teams toward robust solutions.
Requirements
BS in Computer Science (or related field); advanced degree a plus.
5+ years of experience designing and implementing distributed systems.
7+ years of development experience in one/more of the programming languages : Java, Rust, Python or C++.
3+ years of experience developing with Kubernetes, including CRDs and Operators (Operators a strong plus).
Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams or initiatives, with proven ability to influence beyond direct authority.
Proven ability to solve complex technical problems and design multi-team, cross-domain architectures that align business goals with scalable engineering solutions
Strong understanding of cloud-native architecture patterns, including service mesh, hybrid hosting, and multi-cloud.
Experience contributing to architectural forums, reviews, or boards.
Excellent communication and storytelling skills; able to explain complex systems to both executives and engineers.
Familiarity with AI/ML trends and ability to evaluate emerging technologies for business impact.
Skills & Knowledge
Strong system design and diagramming skills (C4, UML, etc.).
Proficiency in debugging and resolving complex distributed systems issues.
Knowledge of cloud orchestration, storage, and networking fundamentals.
Ability to balance innovation and standardization in architectural decisions.
Track record of mentorship and leadership, enabling career growth of other engineers.
Curiosity and passion for exploring new technologies and applying them meaningfully to production environments.
Proven expertise in building architectures that optimize developer experience and platform scalability
Additional Attributes
Experience in platform modernization or large-scale migration programs.
Contributions to open-source projects in Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, or distributed systems.
Familiarity with developer experience enablement and productivity engineering.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role's base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.
Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
