Somerset County company history timeline
In 1800, the area expanded with the annexation of the southwestern corner of Bedford County.
Founded in 1882, the Somerset County Historical Society is dedicated to finding, saving and sharing the history of Somerset County, New Jersey
On July 19, 1921, the group was incorporated.
The first executive director of the Chamber of Commerce was Robert Kline, who was hired in 1957.
1, 1969, that the Chamber hired its first “paid” executive director, Gene Stayrook.
The Chamber experienced still another change in 1978 under the direction of Executive Director Edward Bowersox.
A newer courthouse was built next to it in 1986.
Tercentenary Booklet - 1988 A 76-page booklet detailing the histories of each of Somerset County’s 21 municipalities was published to commemorate the county’s 300th anniversary in 1988.
The Somerset County Business Partnership was formed in 2002 after the merging of two other countywide business organizations.

County Directory Founding Day Proclamation To commemorate the county’s 325th anniversary in 2013, the Board of County Commissioners issued a proclamation commemorating Somerset County’s founding day.
