Position Summary
The Senior Database Administrator will be a pivotal role in defining the architecture of our informatics systems. This role will be responsible for operational data across all verticals, enterprise-wide, flowing through a central pipeline, to facilitate a culture of data-driven insights and decisions. They must have the ability to exercise critical thinking and create efficient data queries and objects using various SQL technologies.
A solid understanding of healthcare, especially laboratory testing and related methodologies is a plus

The ability to produce and understand operational data sets to satisfy business requirements is essential. Prepares and/or maintains documentation pertaining to programming, systems operation and user documentation. Translates business specifications into user documentation. Understands and ensures HIPPA requirements are followed when dealing with any PHI. Contributes to and assists with enterprise data initiatives. Other responsibilities will include providing technical leadership and mentorship to junior staff and providing some leadership in the SCRUM process. You will also be involved in preparing and maintaining technical documentation pertaining to data systems.

Essential Functions
Security and Compliance:
Implement and enforce database security best practices, including user access control, data encryption, and vulnerability patching.
Ensure databases comply with industry security standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
Perform regular audits, reviews, and security assessments on database systems.
Configure and manage database backups and ensure proper encryption and retention policies are followed.
Database High Availability and Clustering:
Design, implement, and maintain high-availability solutions for PostgreSQL and MySQL, ensuring minimum downtime and maximum uptime.
Set up and manage database clustering technologies such as PostgreSQL replication (streaming, logical) and MySQL clustering (Galera, Group Replication).
Architect and deploy disaster recovery (DR) solutions, ensuring quick recovery and minimal data loss in case of failure.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to replication, failover, and clustering.
Identify and address database bottlenecks through query optimization, indexing, and data modeling.
Backup and Recovery Management:
Ensure robust backup strategies are in place and that backups are performed regularly and tested for integrity.
Develop, implement, and validate disaster recovery (DR) plans to ensure quick data restoration and minimize downtime.
Respond to database incidents and outages, ensuring rapid and efficient recovery and root cause analysis.
Development & Testing
Deliver clean, readable code that meets requirements
Contributes and reviews technical related entries into enterprise data dictionaries
Collaborate with development teams to design and implement scalable, highly available database architectures.
Provide appropriate documentation of development work
Collaborate with teammates on tasks
Subject all features to manual testing to ensure acceptance criteria are met with a focus on user experience
Participate in peer review on tasks
Culture and Team Development:
Coach and mentor junior team members
Communicates proactively and effectively with team members, team leads, project managers, software developers, user personnel and management staff

Ensure that all data communications are secure as required by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) of 1996
Monitoring, On-Call Support and Incident Management:
Participate in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours support in the event of database-related incidents.
Manage and resolve database incidents, ensuring proper escalation and communication within the team.
Job Qualifications
Required
5+ years of experience developing traditional data streams (relational data warehouses, operational data stores)
Expert knowledge of various SQL languages (PostgreSQL and MySQL Required)
Experience with database clustering, replication, and high-availability technologies (e.g., Galera, MySQL Group Replication, PostgreSQL Streaming Replication, Logical Replication).
Excellent problem solver, with a focus on team success
Excellent communication skills with ability to work cross-functionally across multiple teams
3-4 years of experience in Python, using frameworks or libraries to construct applications
2+ years of experience in data science.
2+ years of experience in Data Modeling for large amounts of data that are very transaction heavy.
1+ years of experience in in machine learning/predictive analysis or automation of business rules.
Preferred
Experience with BI tools such as Crystal Reports, SSRS, etc.
Experience with ETL tools such as Pentaho, SSIS, Kafka, etc.
Experience with scripting languages such as Bash, Ruby, etc.
Experience with ELK stack or Docker.
Travel

Summary:

Effective data management and analytics are integral to the success of any development program, making this a key position within the department. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages end of month tasks and reporting, ensuring timely and accurate reports to the Finance team.
Develops and produces high level reports such as board reports, annual survey reports, major gift metrics and works with the special event manager to reconcile event income and conducts monthly reconciliation with Finance.
Develops and maintains dashboards to track fundraising progress, campaign performance, donor retention and pipeline activity, as requested, and ensures that data coding supports dashboard accuracy.
Works with the Manager of Major Gifts to ensure that major gift proposals, portfolios and metric reports accurately reflect major gift team activity.
Analyzes donor giving trends and behaviors to identify opportunities for increased engagement and growth.
Process maps - Works with department team members to develop and implement process maps for annual gift, major gift and grateful patient programs and provides data-driven insights to support those areas.
Prepares lists and segmentations for solicitations, stewardship mailings and event invitations.
Develops and manages project timelines.
Conducts periodic review of code tables and coordinates coding adjustments across LBH entities.
Crossed trained in gift processing.
In conjunction with the Director of Operations, provides database review and training for new employees.
Performs mass imports and global changes as needed using Omatic software.
Recommends software training goals for Development team members based on data reviews and audits.
Reviews Blackbaud Community groups to keep abreast of system best practices and solutions to data challenges.
Participates in Blackbaud training modules when appropriate
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor's degree preferred
Experience: 3-5 years of experience working in a nonprofit and/or hospital setting. Raiser's Edge experience or similar fundraising CRM and/or email marking software systems experience.

Sentara Albemarle Medical Center , located in Elizabeth City, NC, serves northeastern North Carolina with a caring team of approximately 650 employees and 150 medical providers. Vascular Lab Technologist- Student Extern

City/State Norfolk, VA Work Shift Rotating Sentara Leigh Hospital is hiring a Student Vascular Tech Extern for the Peripheral Lab department. This is a Flexi Day shift position in Norfolk, VA. Hours: Operating hours are from 730am to 530pm Monday to Friday. Shift times can vary and are expected around 4 hours per week minimum based on availability.
The Student is a training role designed for a student enrolled in an accredited cardiovascular technology / Sonography programs. Under supervision, the student will assist in and perform selected procedures as appropriate, gaining hands-on clinical experience. Must have completed enough clinical hours in an accredited cardiovascular technology program that the student may use employed hours towards graduation requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in preparation of patients for sonography procedures (explaining the procedure, positioning, ensuring patient comfort, obtaining patient history)
Operate specialized ultrasound equipment under supervision to perform basic echocardiogram studies
Assist or act as first assistant during diagnostic and therapeutic vascular related procedures, under physician or registered sonographer guidance
Maintain accurate patient records, image data, and documentation as required by the lab and hospital policy
Adhere to established protocols for patient safety, infection control, and equipment maintenance
Participate in educational activities, seminars, and in-service training to enhance knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, pathology, and echo imaging techniques
Education:
Currently enrolled in an accredited cardiovascular technology or echocardiography sonography program
Have completed sufficient clinical hours so that some work may count toward program graduation requirements
High School diploma or equivalent required
Certification:
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
Experience:
Good communication skills: ability to interact empathetically with patients and work collaboratively with medical team preferred
Attention to detail, ability to follow direction and protocols strictly
Willingness to learn and adapt in a clinical environment
