Required Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1) Perform ultrasound diagnostic procedures in accordance with the physician protocol.

4) Maintain ultrasound equipment in appropriate operating condition.
5) Examination of rooms and work areas to ensure proper presentation.

Education/Experience:
Associates degree required. Minimum one year of sonography experience. Women's health experience preferred, fertility experience a plus.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
Math Ability:

Perform all duties of an ultrasound technologist including:
Operating ultrasound equipment from various manufacturers.
This includes the selection of correct technical factors tailored to each patient and exam.
Assisting the radiologist with semi invasive ultrasound procedures.
Prepare patients for procedures by explaining the process, ensuring comfort, and positioning them appropriately for optimal imaging results.
Verify accuracy of orders prior to examining the patient.
Review previous imaging and tailor the exam accordingly.

Enter data in the Radiology Information System, assuring accuracy and completeness.

Essential Duties of an Echo Vascular Technologist:
The primary purpose of this position is to perform diagnostic echocardiograms and/or vascular ultrasounds for use by providers in the diagnosis of heart disease and structural abnormalities.
Obtain patient health history and diagnosis, take vital signs, and perform an EKG prior to the ultrasound examination.
Educate patients on imaging procedures, answer questions within the scope of practice, and obtain patient consent.

Create digital preliminary reports for the interpreting provider on the PACS system.
Perform vascular ultrasounds including AAA screening, carotid Doppler, upper and lower extremity arterial Doppler, ankle-brachial index test with/without stress, and renal artery Doppler studies.

Appropriate credentials in echocardiography from: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS).
New graduates of a cardiac ultrasound program who are employed in an accredited facility must obtain an appropriate credential within one year from the date of graduation. These individuals must be listed on the application as provisional technical staff who are eligible for credentialing, and must only work under the appropriate supervision of a credentialed Sonographer.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

* Assisting the radiologist with semi invasive ultrasound procedures.
* Prepare patients for procedures by explaining the process, ensuring comfort, and positioning them appropriately for optimal imaging results.
* Verify accuracy of orders prior to examining the patient.
* Review previous imaging and tailor the exam accordingly.
* Review images for clarity, consistency, and quality, ensuring diagnostic accuracy.
* Enter data in the Radiology Information System, assuring accuracy and completeness.
* Provide detailed reports of ultrasound findings in written and/or oral form to Radiologists.
* Maintain a clean and orderly work area, provide quality control processes when necessary, and ensure the safety of patients in the department.
* Attend to the medical needs of the patient at all times, maintaining patient modesty.
* Clean the transducers after each exam, including the high level disinfection process mandatory with endovaginal probe. In addition, the technologist will monitor and change the disinfectant solution monthly.
* Ensure that the ultrasound equipment is properly maintained, performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting as needed.
* Operates standard imaging equipment/software including, but not limited to:
* Ultrasound machine
* PACS/RIS computer
* HealtheLink
* Restock supplies and maintain a list of things to be ordered.
* Assist PSR team and/or administrative staff when necessary.
* When available, help fellow technologists (i.e. change patients)
* Attend all required staff meetings, training seminars and other designated meetings
* Other duties as needed.
* Overtime may be required, as needed
