+ Graduate of a Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Radiology Technology program or graduate of post secondary allied health profession program
**Licenses & Certifications:**

Perform perinatal diagnostic medical sonograms in accordance with protocols to assist the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Specialist with diagnosis and treatment.
Responsibilities:
Essential Functions
1. Exam performance/quality.
Identifies each patient by ID band verification and birth date.
Ensures patient understanding of pending procedure.
Cover appropriate body parts and position patient correctly.
Follows appropriate guidelines and departmental protocols.
Performs exams as priority dictates and as directed.
Critiques each exam for technical and positional accuracy and makes appropriate corrections if necessary.
Follows American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) guidelines.
Check all ultrasound exams with Perinatologist and discuss end results.
2. Workflow management.
Review orders for clinical and demographic consistency and verifies accuracy prior to exam.
Willfully assists physicians, patients, and coworkers as needed and seeks opportunities to provide patient care.
Understand and support the direction and workflow of the department.
Maintain awareness of ongoing exams and assist co-workers as needed.
Provide exam information and status updates to pertinent staff members.
Relieves co-workers from procedures/exams as necessary.
Be in the department and ready to work at the start of scheduled shift.
Have processes set in place to allow for leaving at the end of scheduled shift.
Obtain and consolidate all images, reports and history with completed exam information for review.
Take call. Coordinates inpatient procedure flow. (Hospital Only)

Verify correct images matched with order.
Maintain working knowledge of Genetic Engineering (GE), E10 and I.
Consistently communicates with physician (MD) and Registered Nurse (RN) for orders.
Performs all ultrasounds according to American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) standards.
Able to use printer on all machines.
4. Department Policy/Procedures.
Ensures proper patient identification on all images to comply with department policies and procedures.
Willingly seeks opportunity to provide patient care, or assist others as needed.
Demonstrates knowledge of department guidelines through responsible behavior/actions.
Maintains updated ARDMS license.
Ensures that call reports and/or other specifications are followed through.
Report issues/concerns as soon as possible and provide assistance with resolution/follow-up.

Position Requirements:
Education: Completion of a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) accredited program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography required.
Licensure:
ARDMS- required.
RVT- preferred.
Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS)- required.
Experience:
2+ years of experience working in a diagnostic ultrasound department- required.
2+ years of experience in vascular ultrasound- preferred.
1+ years of experience with Phillips US machines- preferred.
1+ years of experience with Trophon- preferred.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Perform diagnostic medical sonograms, acquiring appropriate and good quality images for interpretation by a supervising radiologist.
Ability to obtain and clearly relay an accurate and complete patient history to the supervising radiologist.
Perform the minimally required safety evaluations on the equipment by following established guidelines to detect problems.
Able to effectively interact and communicate with patients, physicians, and other team members in a collaborative and professional manner.
Knowledge and understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
Essential Job Functions
Maintain necessary supplies.
Follow established department protocols to obtain the necessary images for a supervising radiologist.
Ability to adapt and adjust to the patient's abilities and limitations, when necessary, to obtain the required images.
Able to perform independently to complete a variety of exams.
Attend and participate in department meetings.
Participate in annual performance improvement education.
Responsible for all other duties as assigned.
Physical requirements: This position is classified as Medium Work in the Dictionary of Occupational Titles, requiring the exertion of up to 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Must be able to pass background check. We also conduct pre-employment physical and drug testing. Any job offer will be contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment physical with a drug screen, background check and obtaining active licensures per job requirements.

A Brief Overview
Performs cardiac ultrasound exams (echoes) to facilitate quality patient care for patients of all ages requiring cardiac evaluation. Rotates on-call responsibilities after hours and on weekends to perform studies or provide testing as requested.
Essential Functions
Performs echoes and completes all measurements to produce a preliminary report for patients of various ages. Responsible to take call on a rotational basis to perform studies or provide test resulting as requested.
Perform high quality exams and produce preliminary summary the same day as ordered unless otherwise specified by Cardiology physician.
Echocardiograms are performed in a method consistent with department protocols and ASE/ICAEL guidelines.
Provide patient/caregiver education to relieve apprehension and improve cooperation during exam.
Is on site within 30-60 minutes of call back to perform procedures unless otherwise specified by physician.
Responds to page within 5-10 minutes time frame when on-call for procedures.
Rotates to outreach/contract sites to perform ECHO's as requested.
Coordinates smooth flow of procedure, scheduling and completion in inpatient, clinic, outpatient, emergency department, outreach and offsite facilities to meet the needs of the patient/caregiver, physician, and other professionals.
Procedures are scheduled based on priority of patient needs.
Procedure is explained to patient and caregiver at an understandable level and in a timely manner.
Sonographer is available and ready for patient when they arrive for their procedure preventing any delays.
Communicates effectively and timely with physician.
Participates in exam review with the physician for interpretation when points of interest need to be discussed.
Uses good judgment and applies critical value criteria when determining the need to notify MD of test results prior to patient leaving area.
Communication is provided in a timely manner and accurately portrays procedure findings.
Performs a variety of functions in support of the Echo Lab and Cardiology Department.
Electronic logs updated daily and in a timely manner as the works is completed.
Repairs and maintenance needs are reported to appropriate persons as soon as is reasonable to prevent extended downtime.
Maintains work area in a clean and orderly fashion to comply with infection control regulations and to present a professional look to patients and families by disinfecting room and probes after each use, restocking supplies if necessary, and good handwashing.
Performs professional, clinic instruction of fellows and students by performing and assisting with hands-on instruction when appropriate.

Knowledge of cardiology equipment and procedures at a level normally acquired through completion of 2-4 years of specialized courses beyond high school, as found in an echocardiography program Required

Perform basic cardiac and vascular ultrasound procedures and acquire appropriate echocardiographic and/or vascular data to provide the highest quality of care for the organization's patients and medical staff.
