Responsibilities
1. Performs quality and efficient ultrasound exams in order to assist with a patient's diagnostic work-up
1.1 Follows routine protocols and/or physicians specific prescriptions. Repeat of examinations due to non-compliance or poor quality is minimal as observed by manager / supervisor or physician review.
2. Provides accurate and compassionate patient care in order to ensure service excellence, patient cooperation, safety, and satisfaction.
2.1 Identifies patients and exams accurately 100% of the time according to departmental policy as observed by supervisor or other hospital staff.
3. Performs various record-keeping tasks in order to ensure department goals are met, medical record documentation accuracy, and daily operations run smoothly and efficiently.
3.1 Demonstrates a mastery of end user computer skills of the RIS (Imagecast, VIP, Synapse, Syngo Dynamics, Event Reporting) by accurately and independently performing related tasks such as exam scheduling, completion, document scanning etc.
4. Participates in various learning opportunities in order to further personal knowledge/skills and assists with teaching or training others.
4.1 Proactively seeks opportunities to further one's career, knowledge, and expertise through job related seminars, IFE courses, advanced degrees/certifications, or membership in professional societies, etc.
5. Employee follows established safety precautions and procedures in the performance of all duties in order to ensure a safe environment.
5.1 Operates equipment and performs job related duties in a safe manner, following policies and procedures, to minimize risk of injury to patients. Demonstrates an understanding of body mechanics and use of patient lifting devices when appropriate.
6. To enhance the patient experience in Diagnostic radiology all staff will be responsible to achieve patient satisfaction scores set by the department on the Test & Treatment section of our Press Ganey Survey.
6.1 1. Staff will present themselves in a friendly and courteous manor; Staff will identify themselves and their role while encouraging a Patient and Family Center experience. 1.2 Staff will fully explain procedure and ask if the patient has any additional questions about the procedure. 1.3 Staff will address any comfort issues a patient may have prior to starting procedure. 1.4 Staff will thank patient once procedure is completed and ask the patient if they have any additional questions. 1.5 Staff must meet the above goals and fiscal year threshold value, which was last fiscal year actual for a 2 rating on review. 2. Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required to meet one of the following: AS degree preferred and graduate of an accredited (CAAHEP) School of Diagnostic Sonography., AS degree and graduate of an accredited Allied Health program with an additional requirement of 12 months of full time Diagnostic Medical Sonography instruction., Graduate of Bachelor's program with an additional requirement of 12 months of full time Diagnostic Medical Sonography instruction.
EXPERIENCE
Demonstrated technical skills to meet entry level standards of routine sonography.
LICENSURE
ARDMS certification to include Abdomen (AB) within six (6) months of hire is required (ARRT Sonography is also acceptable, but RDMS (Abdomen) AB certification is required to be obtained within six (6) months of hire date). Vascular certification is required to be obtained within twelve (12) months of hire date. OB/Gyn Certification is required within eighteen (18) months of hire date. CPR certification is preferred.

Job Summary:
Schedules patients and operates equipment to perform diagnostic medical sonograms in accordance with protocols in order to assist the physician in diagnosis and treatment. Follows established policies and procedures set by the department, hospital, state, ACR, TJC, and OSHA.
Key Accountabilities:
Performs ultrasound diagnostic procedures by selecting appropriate transducers and correct scanning sequences to produce an accurate image to assist the radiologist in the diagnosis.
Assesses physician's order for completeness by reviewing the requisition and patient's chart to ensure correct examination is performed the first time.
Establishes the testing schedule by prioritizing requests for procedures so that critically ill patients are treated and appropriate physician and staff levels are available.
Performs and documents quarterly quality assurance tests on equipment by following established professional protocols as required by TJC and to maintain integrity of the system.
Participates in invasive radiological procedures by assisting the radiologist in performing the procedure and producing images in order to provide therapeutic and diagnostic services.
Maintains the ultrasound equipment in good operating order. Clean and disinfect equipment and area after each use. Maintain work area in an orderly manner. Report any hazardous conditions or equipment breakdowns to supervisor.
Demonstrates yearly competencies, including knowledge and behaviors, to conduct examinations and meet the needs of patients with regard to the patient's age, condition or other special requirements.
Routinely prepare examination for interpretation by the radiologist to include correct identification and processing. Set up images in PACs system. Accurately inputs data in the RIS by tracking actual procedure in order to capture all charges and other relevant information for patient billing and to determine department resource allocation, billing and inventory.
Possess computer skills appropriate to meet departmental needs in preparation of reports and correspondence.
Works effectively as a team member within the department and with other units to provide quality service through communication, cooperation and collaboration. Under general supervision of the Mammography/Ultrasound Supervisor, performs ultrasound scans to produce images to assist physicians in the diagnosis of injury and/or disease for patients of all ages. Performs related clerical and service duties.
I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Obtains and records appropriate patient clinical information and/or history; verifies physician assessment of each patient, making adjustments in the standard imaging procedures and techniques to accommodate patient size, age, or condition using Universal Protocol
2. Assists, transfers, and positions patients as needed, ensuring their modesty and physical safety, utilizing auxiliary equipment and/or devices as needed; selects equipment scan parameters appropriate to examination and patient condition
3. Processes and records scanned images per Radiologist protocol to ensure quality and accuracy. Reviews scans with Radiologists as requested. Accurately documents work in HIS/RIS/PACS systems.
4. Checks operation of equipment, sees that Q.A and maintenance schedules are adhered to; maintains cleanliness of tables and equipment to prevent cross contamination of contagious diseases, keeps rooms well stocked with linen and necessary supplies
5. Keeps up to date with changes in the field of ultrasonography by inservice study, attending courses or seminars as necessary and/or recommended, or participating in professional organizations.
6. Maintains yearly competency in Trophon disinfection processes
7. Assists in other area/modalities as needed

Job Summary:
Schedules patients and operates equipment to perform diagnostic medical sonograms in accordance with protocols in order to assist the physician in diagnosis and treatment. Follows established policies and procedures set by the department, hospital, state, ACR, TJC, and OSHA.
Key Accountabilities:

The Technical Director Cardiac Sonographer is a medical imaging professional that will provide direct guidance and coaching to the sonographer team, professional development of sonography team, & maintenance of the Quality Assurance program as defined by IACEL (International Accreditation Commision of Echocardiography Labs) Performs complex diagnostic procedures and echocardiographic tests including M-Mode, 2-dimensional, cardiac doppler, and color flow studies to assess the cardiac, as well as the circulatory functions of the body. Assists with orientation and training of new staff. Carries out emergency procedures within authorized limitations. Maintains required records and files. Adheres to all principles of patient identification, universal precautions, and universal protocol.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
Performs complex diagnostic procedures to assess cardiac and circulatory functions
Overseeing Daily Operations: Managing workflow, assigning tasks, and ensuring that procedures are done efficiently and correctly.
Reviews inpatient and outpatient schedules, providers orders and patient medical history.
Receives order for designated procedures. Obtains required pertinent information including patient history, medications, and clinical indication for test in accordance to established appropriate use criteria guidelines..
Prepares all labs and ultrasound equipment to conduct exams while maintaining patient privacy and is in accordance with established infection control standards.
Training and Mentorship: Assisting in the training of new staff, providing ongoing education, and mentoring less experienced technologists
Utilizes proper positioning and safety for patients while minimizing risk of musculoskeletal injury to self
Provides patient services consistent with scope of practice and clinical standards for the diagnostic sonographer
Primary mentor for all internal and external students enrolled in the sonography program.
Performs transthoracic and trans esophageal echocardiograms, stress echo's, and studies that include the use of agitated saline injections and contrast administration to optimize imaging quality for the interpreting Cardiologist.
Adheres to all technical components for performing adult TTE's in accordance with established ICAEL standards.
Adheres to all technical components for performing an adult TEE in accordance with established ICAEL standards.
Adheres to established protocol for probe disinfection, storage, and maintenance.
Adheres to all technical components of performing and acquiring images for patients undergoing a stress echo in accordance with established ICAEL standards. Observes patients through the duration of this stress test. Collaborates with the team and provider conducting the stress test. Responsible for the test explanation and adequate skin prepping and electrode placement pre-exam.
Adherence to the established protocol for the ordering and administration of all contrast agents.
Maintains communication.
Explains procedures to be performed to each patient. Gives preparatory instructions. Provides reassurance to anxious patients.
Collaborates with Cardiology RN and all technologists to optimize patient throughput and safety.

Facilitates preventative maintenance with the Biomedical Engineering team and supervisor

Prepares quarley QI summary for presentation at Cardiology Section meetings
Coordinates quality Echo case conferences with Medical Director and records minutes

Job Summary:
Schedules patients and operates equipment to perform diagnostic medical sonograms in accordance with protocols in order to assist the physician in diagnosis and treatment. Follows established policies and procedures set by the department, hospital, state, ACR, TJC, and OSHA.
Key Accountabilities:
Performs ultrasound diagnostic procedures by selecting appropriate transducers and correct scanning sequences to produce an accurate image to assist the radiologist in the diagnosis.
Assesses physician's order for completeness by reviewing the requisition and patient's chart to ensure correct examination is performed the first time.
Establishes the testing schedule by prioritizing requests for procedures so that critically ill patients are treated and appropriate physician and staff levels are available.
Performs and documents quarterly quality assurance tests on equipment by following established professional protocols as required by TJC and to maintain integrity of the system.
Participates in invasive radiological procedures by assisting the radiologist in performing the procedure and producing images in order to provide therapeutic and diagnostic services.
Maintains the ultrasound equipment in good operating order. Clean and disinfect equipment and area after each use. Maintain work area in an orderly manner. Report any hazardous conditions or equipment breakdowns to supervisor.
Demonstrates yearly competencies, including knowledge and behaviors, to conduct examinations and meet the needs of patients with regard to the patient's age, condition or other special requirements.
Routinely prepare examination for interpretation by the radiologist to include correct identification and processing. Set up images in PACs system. Accurately inputs data in the RIS by tracking actual procedure in order to capture all charges and other relevant information for patient billing and to determine department resource allocation, billing and inventory.
Possess computer skills appropriate to meet departmental needs in preparation of reports and correspondence.
Works effectively as a team member within the department and with other units to provide quality service through communication, cooperation and collaboration. Provides clinical supervision and instruction to students by maintaining and understanding of policies, procedures, and the clinical competency process (in order to evaluate student growth and competence in performing radiographic procedures).
