Becky Grove, Sonographer, Pediatrix Medical Group Responsibilities The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer provides diagnostic ultrasound tests for patients in the Maternal Fetal Medicine setting. The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer works independently and with other members of the healthcare team to provide comprehensive care to pregnant women. Explains exam to patient and family prior to the commencement of the test to assure cooperation and optimum test results. Acquires anatomical, pathological, and/or physiological data. Records/processes sonographic data and other pertinent observations made during the procedure. Creates a preliminary report for physician interpretation and review/signature. Assists physician with procedures such as amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling. Recognizes equipment malfunctions and takes appropriate corrective action. Responsible for maintaining adequate inventory of ultrasound supplies. Follows the accredited laboratory protocols for obtaining two‐dimensional images, color flow, Doppler, and m‐mode where applicable. Rotates as needed to cover Sonographer absences. Performs related and other assigned duties as directed. Qualifications Education: Graduate of an accredited sonography program with a degree in ultrasonography or equivalent. Maintain or be eligible for certification as an American Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS) in OB/GYN. Must provide evidence of continuing education credits to fulfill accreditation requirements. CPR certification required. Experience Minimum six months experience as an ultrasound technician working in OB/GYN and/or MFM setting preferred. Experience Industry: Healthcare Skills/Abilities: Skilled in operating ultrasound equipment. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.     As a PRN Ultrasound Technologist, you are responsible for performing diagnostic images for medical interpretation through use of multi-frequency sound waves. They will identify normal and abnormal imaging results, communicating a summary of the results to physicians or other health professionals. This position is held accountable for performing the correct US exams and producing high quality diagnostic images, while maintaining proficiency and complying with company policies and procedures. The US technologist will independently perform or assist a licensed practitioner in the completion of diagnostic exams (and invasive procedures if applicable). The role will require flexibility with availability as a per-diem technologist, responding promptly to requests for coverage due to absences or vacations, and covering at minimum one shift in a 30 day period. Specific duties include, but are not limited to: Administer high frequency sound waves to a patient to obtain diagnostic exams as ordered by the physician and - consistent with all applicable legal requirements and restrictions- exercise individual thought, judgment and discretion in the performance of the procedure within their scope of practice as defined by the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography, American Society Radiologic Technologists, and Cardiac Credentialing International (CCI). Knowledge and ability to demonstrate competency of differing US equipment as well as aseptic and sterile technique and requirements for probe cleansing prior to patient use. Maintain levels of quality that meet or exceed customer expectations through process improvement and a team-oriented approach. Demonstrate proficiency of EMR systems, as well as PACS and DICOM systems for image sharing and interpretation. This position is responsible for performing diagnostic cardiac echocardiography examinations while ensuring exceptional image quality and patient care. Key Responsibilities Perform cardiac echocardiography exams with accuracy and professionalism Greet patients and explain procedures in a clear, compassionate manner Use independent judgment to adapt procedures and identify pathological findings Ensure images meet diagnostic quality standards Maintain ultrasound equipment and manage supply inventory Respond appropriately to emergency situations (AED use, oxygen, etc.) Support occasional evening or Saturday shifts Float to Port Orange and Deltona locations as needed Qualifications High school diploma required Graduate of an accredited sonography program Minimum of 1 year of cardiac echo sonography experience Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) with Adult Echo (AE) specialty required Current BLS certification required Skills & Abilities Strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and echocardiography procedures Proficiency with ultrasound imaging equipment Excellent communication and patient care skills Ability to lift and move patients and equipment (up to 50 lbs) Team-oriented, flexible, and dependable Work Environment Medical office and imaging exam rooms Exposure to standard clinical hazards (e.g., needles, radiation) Fast-paced, patient-facing environment
