Responsibilities
The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer provides diagnostic ultrasound tests for patients in the Maternal Fetal Medicine setting. The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer works independently and with other members of the healthcare team to provide comprehensive care to pregnant women.

Responsible for maintaining adequate inventory of ultrasound supplies.
Follows the accredited laboratory protocols for obtaining two‐dimensional images, color flow, Doppler, and m‐mode where applicable.
Rotates as needed to cover Sonographer absences.
Performs related and other assigned duties as directed.
Qualifications
Education:
Graduate of an accredited sonography program with a degree in ultrasonography or equivalent.
Maintain or be eligible for certification as an American Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS) in OB/GYN.
Must provide evidence of continuing education credits to fulfill accreditation requirements.
CPR certification required.
Experience
Minimum six months experience as an ultrasound technician working in OB/GYN and/or MFM setting preferred.

Here is what you will need:

Certificates: Active certification with ARDMS (SPI only is not eligible for hire) or ARRT(S). ARRT-BS is also acceptable if performing breast sonography only. Current compliance with CME requirements. Exceptions require HR approval.

Job Description
The ultrasound technician, also known as a diagnostic medical sonographer, is responsible for performing imaging examinations using ultrasound equipment to provide valuable information for diagnosis and treatment. This role involves preparing patients, operating ultrasound machinery, and analyzing images to assist physicians in assessing medical conditions.
• Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography examinations.
• Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images.
• Uses independent judgment during the sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.
• Analyses; sonograms, synthesize sonographic information, medical history, and communicates findings to the appropriate physician.
• Coordinates work schedule with Imaging Supervisor and/or scheduling desk to assure workload coverage.
• Assumes responsibility for the safety, mental and physical comfort of patients while they are in the sonographer's care.
• Assists with the daily operations of the sonographic laboratory.
• Maintains a daily log of patients seen/completes exam billing forms.
• Participates in the maintenance of laboratory accreditation.
• Establishes and maintains ethical working relationships and good rapport with all interrelating hospitals, referral or commercial agencies.
• Performs all requested sonographic examinations as ordered by the attending physician.
• Prepares preliminary reports and contacts referring physicians when required, according to established procedures.

Basic Requirements/Certifications:
• Minimum 2 years recent ultrasound imaging practical experience in a hospital or clinic environment.
• Ability to effectively operate sonographic equipment.
• Ability to evaluate sonograms to acquire appropriate diagnostic information.
• Ability to integrate diagnostic sonograms, laboratory results, patient history and medical records and adapt sonographic examination as necessary.
• Ability to use independent judgment to acquire the optimum diagnostic sonographic information in each examination performed.
Experience Desired:
• Experience with digital acquisition and transmission of images preferred.
• Experience in or desire to learn general x-ray technician duties preferable.

• Current compliance with Continuing Medical Education (CME) requirements for specialty(ies) as appropriate.
• Current BLS certification.
• Satisfactory completion of formal Radiologic technology training in an AMA-approved school and ability to meet requirements for registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and/or Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) preferred.
Physical Requirements:
• Must meet pre-deployment physical requirements.
• Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
• May require bending, stooping and lifting to 25 lbs.
Other Special Qualifications:
• US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required.
• Valid US Passport with at least 18 months before expiration date. Must maintain a current passport during your stay in Iraq.

• Completion of a formal 2-year training in a school of ultrasound by the Joint Review committee required
• Bachelor's degree in diagnostic medical sonography preferred

Responsibilities:
• Perform high quality Basic and Detailed OB and GYN diagnostic ultrasound imaging exams in accordance with established AIUM and ACOG guidelines and protocols under the supervision of the Radiologist.
• Should be familiar with 2D and 3D transabdominal Scanning, transvaginal scanning of Viabilities, Confirmation of Pregnancy, 76805 Basic Anatomy, 76811 Detailed Anatomy, Fetal Growth, Biophysical Profile, Amniotic Fluid, Subchorionic bleed, Vaginal bleeding in OB and in Gynecology, Auto Accidents, RLQ and LLQ Pain, Fibroids, Ovarian mass, ovarian tumors, ectopic pregnancy, abdominal and pelvic pain.
• Training in Nuchal Translucency, Fetal Nasal Bone and Cervix Length for OB patients preferable.
• Stay current with required CME and updated AIUM and ACOG Guidelines.
• Be experienced in Cine-clips and Still images.
• Reviews clinical information, including relevant personal and family history, exposures, and other risk factors.
• Perform appropriate procedures and record anatomic, pathologic, and/or physiologic data for interpretation by the Radiologist or OB physician.
• Document and process sonographic images and other pertinent observations made during the procedure for presentation to the interpreting physician
• Disinfect the probes and equipment between patients and disinfect vaginal probes using Trophon High level Disinfection.
• Prepare examination findings and communicate clinical information and ultrasound technical findings to the Radiologist.
• Follows the established chain-of-command with all communication within the clinic and department while portraying team spirit with all co-workers and department personnel

Job Description
The ultrasound technician, also known as a diagnostic medical sonographer, is responsible for performing imaging examinations using ultrasound equipment to provide valuable information for diagnosis and treatment. This role involves preparing patients, operating ultrasound machinery, and analyzing images to assist physicians in assessing medical conditions.
• Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography examinations.
• Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images.
• Uses independent judgment during the sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.
• Analyses; sonograms, synthesize sonographic information, medical history, and communicates findings to the appropriate physician.
• Coordinates work schedule with Imaging Supervisor and/or scheduling desk to assure workload coverage.
• Assumes responsibility for the safety, mental and physical comfort of patients while they are in the sonographer's care.
• Assists with the daily operations of the sonographic laboratory.
• Maintains a daily log of patients seen/completes exam billing forms.
• Participates in the maintenance of laboratory accreditation.
• Establishes and maintains ethical working relationships and good rapport with all interrelating hospitals, referral or commercial agencies.

• Current BLS certification.
• Satisfactory completion of formal Radiologic technology training in an AMA-approved school and ability to meet requirements for registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and/or Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) preferred.
Physical Requirements:
• Must meet pre-deployment physical requirements.
• Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
• May require bending, stooping and lifting to 25 lbs.
Other Special Qualifications:
• US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required.
• Valid US Passport with at least 18 months before expiration date. Must maintain a current passport during your stay in Iraq.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance, specifically a MRPT. Applicants with current clearances are preferred.
• Must be able to relocate to Iraq for the duration of the project.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English to effectively communicate.
