During this process, they must be able to operate the Diagnostic Ultrasound equipment to obtain the most diagnostic images possible using the appropriate transducers and operational controls. Essential Functions and Duties: Has a thorough understanding of ultrasound equipment and physics in order to produce high quality images for review by the imaging physician or radiologist. The ability to discern the difference between real anatomic reflections from tissue versus artifact and adjust controls to reduce the effect of the artifacts. Ability to integrate diagnostic sonograms, laboratory results, patient history and medical records, and adapt the Sonographic exam as necessary. Perform ultrasonic diagnostic procedures in accordance with accepted ACR/SDMS/AIUM and department examination protocols as directed by the reading physicians. Maintain ultrasound equipment in a clean and sanitized condition at all times and report any damage or malfunction immediately to your supervisor or biomedical engineering. Clean every transducer and transducer cable after each use. Use AIDET principles with all patients by: acknowledging them, introducing yourself, letting them know how long the exam will take, explaining the procedure and thanking them for visiting our facility. The sonographer shall verify the identity of all patients by checking their registration ID band, and by asking the patient the following: ask for their full name, and date of birth and verify that the answers match the arm band and the referral paperwork. Understands the use of all Doppler controls and principles in order to produce the proper images for evaluation and diagnosis by the reading physician. Must understand the difference between normal appearing anatomy, abnormally appearing anatomy and alterations caused by pathology, and fluid collections, and create an imaging file that best represents this. Demonstrates the ability to assist in performing biopsies, fluid aspiration, tissue aspiration and other invasive procedures while documenting these procedures using ultrasound imaging. Assigns ultrasound studies properly to the designated reading physician based on the exam type; i.e. MFM OB read versus the radiologist read. And ensures that OB studies are not in preliminary status in PACS. Equally, shares the responsibility of performing exams on inpatients, ED patients, portable exams, and Schwab patients; and is an effective communicator with other ultrasound caregivers and office staff. Performs quality assurance tests frequently on the ultrasound machines and reports any defects or damages to the biomedical engineering department via the SinaiNet Renovo portal or by calling the biomedical engineering department directly. Ensures proper protocol and documentation of the high level disinfection process for the ultrasound probes (i.e. Trophon, Cidex, ect.) and reviews the log book for inconsistencies. Job Title: Ultrasound Technologists Period of Performance: 1 Base year, 4 option years. Compensation: $38/hour Work Schedule: The normal work schedule will be 40 hours per week, 8 hours per day, Monday - Friday. This role will perform diagnostic sonograms across the spectrum of Abdominal, OB/Gyn, Vascular, MSK and Pediatric imaging according to established standards with certification in four specialties. As a Sonographer, understands and integrates into the delivery of patient care in regards to their growth and development process. The position actively supports the Hospital's and Department's Continuous Quality Improvement and customer service goals, individually and as an effective team member. Hourly Pay Range: $35.35 - $54.79 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors. SIGN-ON BONUS: $5,000 Ultrasound Technologist II Location: Northwest Community Hospital, Arlington Heights, IL Part-Time, 20 hours weekly Hours: Monday through Friday, 12pm - 8:30pm. On-Call: twice a month, mostly backup One weekend day shift every pay period Rotating holidays What you will do: The Ultrasound Technologist II is an experienced role responsible for performing a wide range of advanced ultrasound procedures and providing expert technical support. This position requires a deep understanding of ultrasound techniques, equipment, and patient care, as well as a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality. What you will need: 3 Years experience as an Ultrasound Technologist, with proficiency in advanced ultrasound procedures required. Preferred Experience: Vascular, Breast, Abdomen, OB/GYN, MSK, and Pediatric experience The level of knowledge normally obtained through an accredited Ultrasound program including clinical training. All sonographers must be certified and currently registered as a RDMS (Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer), RT(S), RT (VS) (American Registry of Radiologic Technology-Sonography/Vascular Sonography), RVT (Registered Vascular Technologist) or RVS (Registered Vascular Specialist) or registry eligible. If registry eligible, must obtain certification within 24 months of graduation from ultrasound program. Knowledge of and/or experience in the correct use of body mechanics.
