What we ask of you:
Prepare for examinations by checking equipment and restocking supplies, reviewing patient schedules, reading physician orders and entering patient data accordingly.
Perform cardiac ultrasound exams and analyze data of 2D, 3D, M-Mode and Doppler data, and assist with administering contrast agents and bubbles for exams.
Obtain quality images by positioning transducer, monitoring display screen and listening to signals, adjusting beam strength and focus.
Perform exercise and pharmacologic stress echocardiograms and assist cardiologist with transesphageal echocardiograms.
Prepare patients and reduce patient anxieties by explaining procedures and answering questions.
Provide training and support to echo students during clinical internships.
Responsible for off premise on-call hours on nights and weekends.

What we require of you:
Graduate from a school of Ultrasound and/or Radiologic Technology, along with completion of a clinical rotation in Radiology and/or Untrasound prior to graduation.
RDMS certified or ARDMS Registry Eligible.
CPR/BLS certification required through ARC or AHA.
At least 1 year of experience performing adult echo exams/ultrasounds. Stress echo experience preferred.
Familiarity and compliance with matters of law, reglulations and internal policies affecting the employment relationship.
Comfort with ultrasound equipment and imaging software, Echo/Bicycle Beds, EMR software.

Graduate of an accredited sonography or radiography program.
Additional Qualifications:
Organized, efficient and multifunctional. Ability to work independently. Requires excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrates effective communication. Ability to work varied hours, shift lengths and respond to an on-call pager which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays and weekends. Ultrasound Sonographer experience preferred.
License or Certifications:

This position will be working on a casual/as needed basis on the day shift, 8 hour shifts.
The Perinatal Sonographer in the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Service is responsible for providing an advanced level of sonography services for the woman experiencing a high-risk pregnancy and her unborn baby. The Perinatal Sonographer works under the direction of a Maternal-Fetal Medicine Specialist (physician) through the creation of diagnostic images appropriate to the Maternal/Fetal Diagnosis/Concern and the gestational age of the pregnancy. Treats all patients in an age and culturally sensitive manner. Responsible for meeting the established practice standards for patient care and Perinatal Imaging as defined by AIUM and by the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Standards of Care for this high-risk population. Responsible for supplies and equipment. Responsible for coordinating teamwork with all members of the interdisciplinary health care team.

Hennepin Healthcare has a current opening for a Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) Sonographer in our OB Testing Diagnostic Lab. This casual position will pick up day shifts.
Performs specialized obstetric and gynecologic diagnostic ultrasound scanning procedures. Takes anatomical images to demonstrate normal and abnormal fetal anatomy and gynecologic anatomy including abnormalities. Reports preliminary findings to the Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialist. Participates in the education of healthcare providers.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs high-risk obstetric ultrasounds working with Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialists including: first trimester ultrasounds, detailed first-trimester fetal anatomy assessment, comprehensive fetal anatomy assessments in the second and third trimesters, transvaginal ultrasounds to assess maternal and fetal anatomy, maternal and fetal doppler studies (including umbilical dopplers and middle cerebral artery dopplers), antenatal fetal surveillance, 3D and 4D imaging
Ultrasounds on patients with high BMI in pregnancy, multifetal gestations, nuchal translucency and nasal bone assessment, and cervical length assessments are within the scope of this sonographer
Uses accurate clinical judgment during the sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathological findings
Uses cognitive sonographic skills to accurately identify, record, and adapt imaging studies and antenatal surveillance as appropriate based on anatomical, pathological, and diagnostic information and images
Analyses obtained images and synthesizes sonographic information and clinical history and communicates findings to the Maternal-Fetal Medicine physician and other members of the care team including Registered Nurses and Genetic Counselors
Assists Maternal-Fetal Medicine physician in the performance of diagnostic and therapeutic fetal procedures including amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling, fetal fluid drainage, fetal injections, fetal blood sampling and transfusion
Assumes responsibility for the safety as well as the mental and physical comfort of patients while they are in the sonographer's care
Educates, assists, and communicates effectively with patients and their families regarding procedures and/or treatments to be performed in difficult and anxious settings and provides emotionally supportive and culturally appropriate care
Assists with the daily operations of the ultrasound department including maintenance and cleaning/sterilization of ultrasound equipment
Demonstrates the ability to troubleshoot and notify appropriate personnel to maintain equipment performance
Assures the efficient operation of workflow of the department with participation in monitoring and maintaining an adequate inventory of supplies and materials to ensure non-interruption of services
Establishes and maintains ethical and professional working relationships and good rapport with all interrelating hospital, referral, or commercial agencies This includes maintaining the confidentiality of all work information
Coordinate with other staff both in the Maternal-Fetal Medicine unit and referring providers to ensure appropriate and patient-centered care is provided
Provides ultrasound skill training for ultrasound technologist students, Medical Students, Obstetrics & Gynecology and Radiology Residents, and Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellows
Coordinates work schedule with departmental Supervisor and/or scheduling desk to ensure workload coverage
Maintains practice standards as outlined in the American Society of Radiologic Technicians (ASRT): The Practice Standards for Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy - Sonography Practice Standards
Maintains practice standards as outlined in The American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) accreditation
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's degree in ultrasound technology and a graduate of an accredited School of Ultrasound Technology by CAAHEP
Certification or Certification-Eligible by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). If “eligible”, employee must be certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology within one year of hire
Maintains minimum CE credits as mandated by the accrediting body ARDMS
Possess current CPR certification or obtain within 4 months of employment

Hennepin Healthcare has a current opening for a Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) Sonographer in our OB Testing Diagnostic Lab. This casual position will pick up day shifts.
Performs specialized obstetric and gynecologic diagnostic ultrasound scanning procedures. Takes anatomical images to demonstrate normal and abnormal fetal anatomy and gynecologic anatomy including abnormalities. Reports preliminary findings to the Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialist. Participates in the education of healthcare providers.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs high-risk obstetric ultrasounds working with Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialists including: first trimester ultrasounds, detailed first-trimester fetal anatomy assessment, comprehensive fetal anatomy assessments in the second and third trimesters, transvaginal ultrasounds to assess maternal and fetal anatomy, maternal and fetal doppler studies (including umbilical dopplers and middle cerebral artery dopplers), antenatal fetal surveillance, 3D and 4D imaging
Ultrasounds on patients with high BMI in pregnancy, multifetal gestations, nuchal translucency and nasal bone assessment, and cervical length assessments are within the scope of this sonographer
Uses accurate clinical judgment during the sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathological findings
Uses cognitive sonographic skills to accurately identify, record, and adapt imaging studies and antenatal surveillance as appropriate based on anatomical, pathological, and diagnostic information and images
Analyses obtained images and synthesizes sonographic information and clinical history and communicates findings to the Maternal-Fetal Medicine physician and other members of the care team including Registered Nurses and Genetic Counselors
Assists Maternal-Fetal Medicine physician in the performance of diagnostic and therapeutic fetal procedures including amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling, fetal fluid drainage, fetal injections, fetal blood sampling and transfusion
Assumes responsibility for the safety as well as the mental and physical comfort of patients while they are in the sonographer's care
Educates, assists, and communicates effectively with patients and their families regarding procedures and/or treatments to be performed in difficult and anxious settings and provides emotionally supportive and culturally appropriate care
Assists with the daily operations of the ultrasound department including maintenance and cleaning/sterilization of ultrasound equipment
Demonstrates the ability to troubleshoot and notify appropriate personnel to maintain equipment performance
Assures the efficient operation of workflow of the department with participation in monitoring and maintaining an adequate inventory of supplies and materials to ensure non-interruption of services
Establishes and maintains ethical and professional working relationships and good rapport with all interrelating hospital, referral, or commercial agencies This includes maintaining the confidentiality of all work information
Coordinate with other staff both in the Maternal-Fetal Medicine unit and referring providers to ensure appropriate and patient-centered care is provided
Provides ultrasound skill training for ultrasound technologist students, Medical Students, Obstetrics & Gynecology and Radiology Residents, and Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellows
Coordinates work schedule with departmental Supervisor and/or scheduling desk to ensure workload coverage
Maintains practice standards as outlined in the American Society of Radiologic Technicians (ASRT): The Practice Standards for Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy - Sonography Practice Standards
Maintains practice standards as outlined in The American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) accreditation
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's degree in ultrasound technology and a graduate of an accredited School of Ultrasound Technology by CAAHEP
Certification or Certification-Eligible by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). If “eligible”, employee must be certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology within one year of hire
Maintains minimum CE credits as mandated by the accrediting body ARDMS
Possess current CPR certification or obtain within 4 months of employment
Preferred Qualifications:
One year of obstetric ultrasound experience
American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) certification in Obstetrics & Gynecology

A Brief Overview
