Primary Duties:
Performs Ultrasound examinations in department or at bedside to include chest, abdomen, pelvis, small parts, carotids, neonatal heads, OB/GYN, trans-vaginal, and the prostate in accordance with prescribed protocols utilizing identified scanner and in accordance with policies on Universal Precautions, safety, and waste disposal. Adheres to the policies and procedures that apply to the performance of obtaining ultrasound studies, including performing correct, exam, including laterality, on correct patient at the time requested.
Reports initial impressions to the Radiologist and review the images before releasing the patient. Ensures timely completion of all exams through tracking, scanning and other technical workflow as related to Radiology Information System (RIS), Enterprise Radiology Solutions (ERS) and Enterprise Electronic Record (EMR).
Provides basic information to patients and/or families concerning procedures to be performed and can answer questions if asked. Coordinates patient flow on assigned unit to maximize productivity. Ensures that patient waiting times are minimized before, during and after the procedure. Coordinates, communicates, and collaborates with Patient Financial Associates that register radiology exams to minimize delays and potential safety issues for the outpatient population.
Prepares exam rooms at the beginning of each shift and between assigned cases. Coordinates and collaborates with Technical Aides to ensure efficient room turnover. Assists with the upkeep of ultrasound equipment, adheres to all related safety requirements, and reports any need for equipment repairs. Cleans equipment and work area, wipes down assigned equipment between cases, and stocks and maintains supplies at identified inventory levels.
Assists the technical supervisor in the revision, development and implementation of lab policies, in-service programs and continuing educational programs that enhance the individual technologist's performance and skills.
Qualifications:
Must have completed training in an approved Ultrasound program.
As part of their education, candidates must also demonstrate competency in didactic coursework and an ARRT-specified list of clinical procedures by completing competency requirements established for the discipline in which they are seeking certification and registration.
ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography) or ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologist).

A Senior Cardiac Sonographer will perform a range of ultrasound echocardiographic studies in clinical, clinical research, or research settings. Will be responsible for performing echocardiographic studies to diagnose a variety of vascular diseases, illnesses, and disorders; and, in addition, will be responsible for performing interventional procedures and conducting heart studies. Exams may include Transthoracic, Exercise, and Pharmacologic Stress Echocardiograms, special procedures, including but are not limited to, echo-guided myocardial biopsied, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy studies, and additional procedures as dictated by research protocols and clinical trials. Will perform inpatient and outpatient echocardiograms and Doppler analysis. Will provide 2-D echocardiograms and transesophageal echocardiograms (TEEs). May also perform vascular studies in the clinic abdominals and bi-lateral venous studies of the legs and additional procedures as ordered. Will insure proper and economical use of equipment, supplies, and other clinical resources employed in the delivery of quality patient care and maintains appropriate records and files. Must provide cross training for personnel from department into echocardiography. Will also provide clinical instructor responsibilities to JHH Ultrasound students and Cardiology fellows. May serve in a teaching capacity for the Johns Hopkins Hospital Ultrasound School.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Graduation from a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Program (CAAHEP)-accredited Diagnostic Ultrasound program is required. Additional clinical experience or credentials may be considered in lieu of some education. B.S. in Diagnostic Ultrasound preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Advanced sonographic skills are necessary to obtain and document a complete examination or research protocol. High level of analytical ability is needed to obtain appropriate images and required measures for a diagnostic echocardiogram. Interpersonal and communications skills are necessary to provide technical guidance and instruction for cardiac ultrasound interns, clinical and research fellows, and attending physicians. Strong eye/hand coordination skills are required, along with high visual acuity. Ability to proficiently describe clinical findings or developments in research subjects in a timely and comprehensive manner. Must be able to perform transthoracic echocardiograms in a 45 minute time slot in an outpatient setting.
Required Licensure, Certification, On-going Training:
Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) by The American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RSC) by Cardiac Credentialing International (CCI) is required. Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) is preferred by not required. Current CPR Certification is required. The Clinical Sonographers employed through research grants only, not performing any clinical echocardiography services, will be subject to annual review, competencies, and standards as indicated by the specific protocols and investigator criteria, and obtaining registry is strongly encouraged and preferred.
Work Experience:
One (1) to two (2) years of cardiac experience required. Additional experience as a vascular technologist is preferred. Additional education or credentials may be considered in lieu of some experience.
Machines, Tools, Equipment:
Various manufacturers and models of diagnostic ultrasound equipment, digital recording and storage devices, computers and associated hospital software applications, accessory equipment, and other pertinent equipment essential to the department. Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Power, and Excel.
Working Conditions:
Possible exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials, with little likelihood of harm when established health and safety precautions are followed.
Work may require the use of lab coats, hospital standard apparel uniforms, and/or protective clothing, including gowns, gloves, masks, or and eye gear.
Position requires the ability to life and assist the patient on and off the examination table and to maneuver the patient into proper positioning to obtain diagnostic results.
Position requires the ability to move and lift up to 50 pounds of supplies or equipment as needed. Additionally, the ability to move the ultrasound unit for portable examinations and patient room furniture will be mandatory.
Position will require travel to another Johns Hopkins facility as assigned.

Flat Rate: $53.00/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. Sonographer ll - PRN / As need schedule
Zero Hours/Rotating Shift
We are seeking an experienced Sonographer II to join our healthcare team in Baltimore, United States. In this role, you will perform diagnostic medical sonography procedures while providing exceptional patient care and maintaining high clinical standards.
Perform comprehensive diagnostic ultrasound examinations according to established protocols
Analyze sonographic images to ensure optimal diagnostic quality
Document and record examination findings in medical records and PACS systems
Maintain ultrasound equipment and ensure proper functionality
Collaborate with physicians and healthcare team members to provide patient care
Assist in training and mentoring junior sonographers
Follow all safety protocols and maintain compliance with healthcare regulations
Prepare and position patients for sonographic procedures
Explain procedures to patients and address their concerns
Participate in quality assurance programs and continuing education
Qualifications
Graduate of an approved Medical Sonography program.
Current ARDMS certification required
Current BLS certification
3-5 years of clinical sonography experience
Demonstrated proficiency in various ultrasound procedures and equipment
Experience with PACS systems and medical imaging software
Strong knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Physical ability to assist patients and maintain prolonged standing positions
Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
Experience in multiple sonography specialties preferred
On-Call: Must be available to participate in the department on-call requirements.

Compensation
Pay Range: $35.76-$53.66/hf
