About the Role The Ultrasonographer is responsible for using diagnostic medical equipment to diagnose various medical conditions. Sonography, or ultrasonography, is the use of sound waves to generate an image for assessment and diagnosis. The Ultrasonographer may specialize in obstetric/gynecologic, abdominal, neurosonography or breast sonography. What You'll Be Doing Reviews patient's medical history and physician's instructions. Prepares equipment for procedure. Selects appropriate equipment settings. Explains procedure to patient and records any medical history that may be relevant to the condition being viewed. Directs the patient to move into positions that will provide the best view. Spreads gel on the skin to aid in the transmission of sound waves. Operates special equipment to direct nonionizing, high-frequency sound waves into areas of the patient's body. The equipment collects reflected echoes and forms an image that may be videotaped, transmitted, or photographed for interpretation and diagnosis by a physician. Views the screen during the scan, looking for visual cues that contrast healthy areas with unhealthy ones. Selects images to show the physician for diagnostic purposes. Takes measurements, calculates values, and analyzes the results in a preliminary report for the physicians. Keeps patient records and adjusts/maintains equipment. ROLE: Provide mobile ultrasound service. Majority of work activity performed in various nursing homes, home cares facilities, prisons and processing sites throughout regions serviced by Diagnostic Laboratories traveling in an automobile to the location. TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Login for self-dispatching or call into the dispatch department to obtain information regarding beginning case load. Arrive at their first case at the start of their assigned shift or have left their house thirty (30) minutes prior. Unload portable sonographic equipment and take into facilities to perform exams ordered by the physician. Must obtain clinically diagnostic, technically competent images. Perform and process Ultrasounds using portable sonographic equipment and digitally send them to a Radiologist for interpretation. Check voicemail from each clients facility upon completion of their assigned case(s); or minimally every thirty (30) minutes as necessary. Check for available cases via self-dispatching system and/or check in with the dispatcher on duty every thirty (30) minutes as necessary. Wear the company uniform, company-provided name tag, and follow company dress code. Carry the company -provided phone on his/her person Respond to all urgent communication within fifteen (15) minutes. Attend meetings as required. This means working closely with our emergency doctors to provide same-day ultrasound scans for pets when they need it most. This position takes direction from the physicians regarding specific patient care and must discern normal and abnormal anatomy and physiology related to diagnostic imaging. This position reports to the Clinical Manager and will function in an independent fashion. Perform clinical assessments and diagnostic OB/GYN/infertility ultrasound procedures utilizing various transducers. Perform ultrasound procedures during embryo transfers, Doppler procedures, and 3D ultrasounds. Recognize cross-sectional anatomy as demonstrated and differentiate normal/abnormal structures, providing an assessment concerning pathology viewed while scanning. Provide education to patients about procedure performed and communicate information as appropriate to patient during visualization of anatomy. Address concerns or abnormal findings with physician in a timely manner. Communicate with physician, nurse practitioner, or nurse coordinator regarding ultrasound findings as noted and record them in EMR. Organize daily work schedule and coordinate efficient patient care flow between procedures. Clean equipment and exam beds between each patient use using a germicidal solution. Re-order equipment and supplies as needed and reconcile packing slips for business office. Serve as a liaison between the U/S team and the physicians to assure high quality patient care. Assist Clinical Manager with interviewing process of U/S staff. Ensure the U/S team maintains their AIUM accreditation. Other duties as assigned. What You Bring: High School Diploma/GED required. American Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDS) certification required. ARDMS certification; maintain active status through continuing education. 2 years' previous OB/GYN or infertility experience preferred. We are seeking a skilled and experienced Ultrasonographer to join our medical imaging team early morning Monday through Saturday. As an Ultrasonographer, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic evaluations using sonography techniques. This is a vital role in our healthcare facility, as you will play a key role in providing accurate and detailed imaging to aid in patient diagnoses and treatment plans. LIMITED SCHEDULE POSITION MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY 3 HOURS PER DAY IN OUR Providence, Rhode Island LOCATION QUALIFICATIONS: Must be an OBGYN Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer with the American Registry of Diagnostic Ultrasound (ARDMS). One year experience in Ob/Gyn sonography with a strong background specifically in infertility ultrasound preferred. SCHEDULE: Monday through Saturday This is a limited schedule position start time is 6:30 am the number of patients scheduled each day varies. You will be paid a 3 -hour minimum. Currently the shift typically runs for approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. The expectation would be to scan all patients that are scheduled in the am for monitoring. RESPONSIBILITIES: Baseline Gynecological Scan: Baseline trans-vaginal 2D and 3D ultrasound scan to ascertain a normal uterus and ovaries along with an antral follicle count (follicles between 2mm-10mm). The scan findings should correlate with the stage of the patient's cycle. Reviews patient history and other supporting data to facilitate optimum diagnostic results. Treatment Scans: Scan to monitor ovarian follicles with 3D technology. Monitoring endometrial thickness. Explains procedures to patients to assure cooperation and optimum test results, positions patient. Evaluates clarity and accuracy of ultrasound data. Maintains Infection Control Policies with regard to cleanliness of equipment and environment of the ultrasound work areas. Key Responsibilities Perform transvaginal and pelvic ultrasound examinations including follicular monitoring, baseline gynecologic scans, 3D gynecologic scans, ectopic pregnancy scans, and early OB scans. Ensure patient comfort and safety while maintaining professionalism and empathy. Clearly explain ultrasound procedures and maintain ongoing communication with patients. Document and upload imaging results into the EMR system with accuracy and timeliness. Collaborate with physicians and clinical team to interpret and communicate sonographic findings. Maintain ultrasound equipment and ensure infection control protocols are followed. Assist with procedure room setup and turnover, adhering to sterile precautions.
