The CHA Cardio-vascular department, under the direction of the Cardiology Medical Director and Network Cardiovascular Manager provides a variety of diagnostic testing services, including Stress Tests, Cardiac ultrasound, vascular testing, event and holter monitors. Summary: Performs a broad spectrum of non-invasive cardiovascular test to provide medical specialists with data for diagnostic purposes
Responsibilities:
Performs a wide range of cardiovascular non-invasive tests according to an established protocol, in a manner that effectively promotes and supports the efficient operation of the department, including: o Cardiovascular 2-D imaging, color flow, spectral display, continuous and pulsed wave Doppler o Exercise/pharmacologic stress, harmonics and contrast imaging o Holter scanning
Recognizes adequate vs inadequate data collection, and prepares preliminary report in a form presentable for physician interpretation
Recognizes abnormalities and life threatening findings and reports to physician or nursing unit as indicated. Documents notification as part of Quality Improvement activities
Minimum Qualifications:
Education/Training: Accredited Allied Health Program, registry eligible
Certifications: American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS Healthcare Provider
Work Experience: Previous clinical background required

THE JOB
As a Sonographer, your focus is on ultrasound support for VEG hospitals and training facilities. This means working closely with our emergency doctors to provide same-day ultrasound scans for pets when they need it most. You'll deal with a variety of patient types and scans, so being comfortable adapting to new scenarios and willing to learn new techniques and think outside the box are all part of your day-to-day. WHAT YOU'LL DO
Perform ultrasound studies and facilitate ultrasound training at your home hospital and regional hospitals
Maintain good relationships with and accept feedback from teleconsultation radiologists reading your studies (e.g., Antech, SonoPath, IDEXX, VetsChoice, etc.)
Ensure all training content and activities are in alignment with VEG culture, mission, and vision, and represent accurate, up-to-date sonographic techniques
Track doctor and nursing team skills with a VEG Ultrasound Certificate checklist
Engage in self-reflection and program evaluation practices to modify and enhance VEG's ultrasound training programs
Regularly meet with the medical directors, nursing trainer, and director of radiology education to discuss program development, training objectives, and additional needs
Regularly meet with the hospital manager and medical director to discuss implementation of new training protocols, training schedules, hospital training needs, and team concerns
Coordinate weekly schedule to work on the floor shifts with the hospital manager and medical director and devote time to training responsibilities

Job Summary: The Ultrasound Technologist performs diagnostic ultrasound studies, demonstrating expertise in carrying out Level 1 ultrasounds including growth and doppler scans. Competency in Level 2 obstetrical ultrasound procedures and NT is preferred. If hired without Level 2 experience or NT certification, it is the expectation that the new hire will demonstrate competency in Level 2 scans and certification after six months of training within the department. The Ultrasound Technologist assesses the findings in the ultrasound examinations and assists the MFM physicians in interpreting the ultrasound studies. Flexes between offsite locations as needed by department with a minimum of one weeks advanced notice to cover vacations and leave of absence. Will be asked on occasion to flex to other offsite to cover if someone has called out sick. Primary location for employee will be PDC Providence.
Specifications: Completion of a one or two year program or certified training course, followed by certification examination. Registry with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) and certification in OBGYN, is required. Must be competent in scanning pregnant women in the first, second, and third trimester, including targeted anatomic survey [Level 2 scans and NT after six months of training upon hire within the department).
