Safely remove lodged or adjacent debris from incoming pallets. Sort pallets by hand in a neat and orderly fashion. Inspect pallets while sorting to ensure criteria are met. Maintain a clean and orderly work area throughout the shift. Maintain established rate per hour to ensure productivity, efficiency, and safety. Maintain safe working conditions by following guidelines and procedures for handling all related equipment and material. The Sorter is responsible for safely and efficiently processing incoming recyclable materials so that outbound commodities are acceptable for sale to various brokers or mills. This role will conduct carcass and carcass part sorting activities and identify any abnormal conditions or defects before carcasses and their parts are presented to online inspectors. The focus will be to separate carcasses, heads, and viscera that are abnormal from those that are normal. Key Responsibilities Observe, palpate, and incise carcass and carcass parts to determine if abnormalities exist. Perform preparation (e.g., cuts) and presentation activities. Follow FSIS regulations and company procedures (e.g., heads, tongues, viscera, carcass). Notify the proper person if you identify, while conducting sorting activities, an animal or carcass you suspect has a reportable or foreign animal disease. The Sorter is responsible for safely and efficiently processing incoming recyclable materials so that outbound commodities are acceptable for sale to various brokers or mills.
