THE ROLE Under close supervision, sorts a wide variety of reusable waste material for recycling in accordance with established standards and procedures, assuring that contaminated or non-recyclable materials are separated from recyclable materials. Great entry level position for a person with the required knowledge, but no required experience.
Shift will be Monday - Thursday, 7AM-3:30PM; Friday 6AM-2:30PM, Saturday as needed.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, AND ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
* Sorts mixed recyclable materials by type and from waste materials in compliance with laws, regulations and policies.
* Identifies and distinguishes recyclables (paper, glass, etc.) from non-recyclables (garbage, etc.). Includes sorting through materials on a conveyor to view and recognize type, and opening bags to inspect contents.
* Empties and/or changes sorted materials containers as needed.
* Maintains a safe work area.
* Per company policies and training, looks out for, reports on, and takes appropriate action regarding any hazardous materials in the waste stream.
* Abides by company policies and procedures and state and local regulations.

Position Overview:
Sorter Laborers work as quality control line workers by hard sorting recyclable materials and trash/green waste from the recycling stream. Position Responsibilities:

Inspect materials and sort items or materials into designated areas according to type, size, condition, color, or paper grade.

Perform cleaning duties related to plant equipment and general housekeeping.
Report system problems immediately to management.
Maintain a clean and orderly work area and surrounding area.
Dump boxes and containers of material into designated area(s).
Maintain an excellent attendance record and an excellent safety and work quality record.
Other duties as assigned.

Duties:
Train and oversee contingent staff and conduct audits to ensure that the required work is satisfactorily completed related to Battery Maintenance, specifically:
Work with Battery Maintenance management to forecast job requirements, ensure appropriate resource allocation and adjust schedules and availability accordingly.
Model safety behaviors and ensures technicians comply with all health, safety, and environment requirements.
Monitor workflow processes and develop / recommend areas for improvement.
Identifies and resolves systemic issues within the team.
Handle issues escalated from the Battery Maintenance team members, customers, and other stakeholders.
Serves as a key liaison ensuring support for required batteries, parts and service operations as needed.
Find and recommend ways to improve the team's efficiency, quality, and operational effectiveness.
Organizes training sessions for new technicians in collaboration with self or onsite trainers when feasible.
Conducts regular inspections and upkeep of on-floor equipment, promptly informing management about repair or replacement needs.
Work closely with onsite business partners to facilitate workflow, ensure timely delivery, and prepare items for shipping.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
2 - 5 years Automotive industry Production experience.
Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations is preferred.
