NATURE OF WORK

ILLUSTRATIVE TASKS

Uses pitchforks, shovels, and similar hand tools to pick up general refuse, garbage, recyclables, trash, and yard trash from curbside and other areas as instructed. Rides with truck to disposal locations and/or recycling centers; assists truck operator and disposal personnel in off-loading. Assists truck driver in fueling and checking all fluid levels of assigned truck, including spares; cleans out trucks, including cab interior, daily, upon route completion. Performs related work as required.

Ability and willingness to work with unpleasant waste materials. Ability to use simple hand tools. Sufficient physical strength and ability to lift, move, and carry very heavy objects. Willingness to work under all conditions of weather.

Sort and process all incoming mail and parcels, aligning with designated area requirements and maintaining our high-quality standards.
Ensure sorting and processing targets are met or exceeded consistently.
Inspect each piece of mail to ensure the labels are affixed correctly and the zip code on the label matches the address zip code.
Operating sorting machinery which may include loading cardboard boxes (Gaylords) and/or bins and rapidly placing mail/parcels onto conveyors.
Scan labels and maintain workstation.
Maintain cleanliness of work area
Flexibility to adapt to different operational areas as needed to support the business.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High School or equivalent training and/or related experience preferred.

Overview
Attend to the cleaning process of hotel linens to ensure guests and associates experience a clean hotel. Previous experience required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Operate washing and drying equipment, load, and unload laundry from machines. Measure and administer cleaning agents to laundry according to product specifications.
* Monitor feeder information on washers, make sure all drums are full, and report any irregularities to immediate supervisor.
* Set the proper drying and cooling times for different types of linen.
* Clean up machines and surrounding areas.
* Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
* Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
* Working knowledge of the use of laundry chemicals and different formulas, as well as effects on various types of linen.
* Ability to prioritize and organize work.
* Ability to lift, bend, stoop, push or pull heavy loads, and stand for long periods of time with or without reasonable accommodation.
* Requires lifting bundles of linen weighing up to 75 lbs. Ability to push and/or pull wheeled carts weighing up to 100 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
* SHIFT: 8:00AM - 4:30PM Monday - Friday
* Responsible for collecting, loading, and transporting waste, recycling, and compostable materials to the Emory Recycling Center.
* Requires lifting and pulling bags/receptacles weighing from 50 to 75 pounds, in addition to mounting and dismounting a truck multiple times per shift.
* Supports the recording of collected material weights; must have strong organizational skills and the ability to document collections.
* Assists in facility and vehicle management maintenance.
* Ensures a clean, safe work environment in compliance with university standards as well as federal, state and local requirements.
* Knowledgeable of Emory University's goals for sustainability, specifically in regards to waste minimization.
* Responsible for sorting and handling waste, recycling, and compostable materials to ensure that all materials are disposed of properly.
* Communicates with supervisor to ensure work orders are processed on time and labor completed.
* Supports the needs of the department by being a team player and being flexible regarding route and schedule adjustments. Candidate must have experience operating large trucks, bailer, shredding equipment, and forklifts, or a minimum of thirty days to complete training.
* Candidate must have knowledge of HIPPA regulations and proper handling of confidential materials.
