Sorts empty cylinders being received by filling plant for refilling and performs necessary prefill inspection steps to qualify cylinders for refill. Examines returned cylinders for surface defects, such as dents, cracks, and burns, and rolls cylinders to designated work area. Loads cylinders on vehicles, using hand truck, chain hoist or forklift, and records type and quantity of cylinders.
In particular you will:
* Loads and unloads gas cylinders and/or other products onto and off of route trucks and trailers moving cylinders with proper carts only.
* Sorts empty cylinders by type.
* Rolls cylinders and operates a forklift truck for the movement of cylinders on pallets.
* Understands hazards of various gases; size and contents of cylinders by reading and interpreting cylinder labels and the color-coding of tanks. Accurately labels cylinders.
* Handles high-pressure, medical and liquid cylinders. Prepares high pressure cylinders and cryogenic vessels for filling. Attaches to manifold, evacuates cylinders to eliminate all possible contaminants.
* Performs basic cylinder maintenance such as painting cylinders, labeling cylinders, and cleaning of work area.
* Checks for cylinder quantities, styles and product, and/or assists with inventory
* Inspects cylinders prior to filling, following standard procedures as required by government, Airgas, and distributor standards. Conducts a variety of Safety checks per procedures, such as odor tests, checking caps and valves.
* Manages paperwork to DOT, FDA, OSHA, and Airgas standards. Completes quality control sheets as required.

Duties:

Operate the forklift to efficiently move pallets, containers, and materials throughout the plant facility.

Conduct inspection of the forklift prior to operating, promptly reporting issues to maintenance team for resolution.

Education, Skills and Experience:
* Graduation from an accredited high school or General Education Development (GED)
* Good attention to detail and organizational skills are necessary

Physical Requirements:
* Employee will need to be able to lift 65lbs repeatedly

Graham Packaging Company is looking for a Sorter based in York, PA, at the Recycling Plant.
We have an opening for 3rd Shift, which operates 10:48 PM - 7:00 AM, Sunday night through Friday morning. Sunday hours will be 8:48 PM-7:00 AM for required start-up.
The starting pay for this position is $18.60 per hour, plus a $2.00 shift differential.

Responsibilities
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Sort raw materials on the production lines for processing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Sort contamination out of raw materials
Sort raw material colors
Perform housekeeping duties as assigned by supervisors
Clean out dryers on blade changes and blade rotations
Keep work station clean
Follow all safety regulations and requirements
Train fellow employees as requested
Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications
Previous manufacturing experience a plus.
