The Spanish interpreter will be supporting a broad set of business activities from a call/contact center type environment. Our job is to support our customer's interpretation needs by providing language interpretation. Essential Job Duties + Provides consecutive and simultaneous interpretation between Spanish and English and vice versa. + Provides over-the-phone and video remote interpreting for limited English proficiency (LEP) individuals as required. + Performs sight translation, occurring when an interpreter is given a written document in one language and asked to read it aloud in another language. + Provides quality control review of translated documents as required. + Performs other duties as required. **Qualifications** Minimum Requirements + Minimum one (1) year of experience interpreting in a judicial environment. + Legal ability to work in U.S. + Highly proficient in both English and Spanish vocabularies typically used in formal, consultative, and casual modes of communication in justice system contexts, including colloquial slang, idiosyncratic slang, and regionalisms. + Knowledgeable of specialized vocabulary (terminology) in both English and Spanish to legal and criminal justice system terminology and immigration procedures. + Ability to speak English and Spanish fluently, including high to low levels of language register, regional colloquialisms, and slang expressions, and do so with clear and intelligible pronunciation. + Ability to perform simultaneous, consecutive, and sight translation in a manner that is factually and conceptually accurate without changes, omissions, or additions. + Ability to preserve the tone and emotional level of the speaker, as well as manage the delivery, speed, and length of the statement (projection, pace and pausing) of the speaker. + Ability to maintain appropriate speed and projection while rendering interpretation, and request and incorporate clarification of speaker's statements only when justified. Preferred Qualifications + Video remote and over-the-phone interpreting experience strongly preferred. + Cisco WebEx experience. + Federal, State, National Association of Judiciary Interpreters and Translators (NAJIT), and/or American Translators Association (ATA) certifications in interpretation. + Experience providing interpretation for Department of Justice (DOJ) Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) court cases. **Additional Information** **Work Environment** + Ability to travel up to 20% of the time + Fast-paced, deadline-driven environment + Call/contact center + Full time, shift-based schedules (40 hours per week) + Not eligible for remote work **Working at SOSi** All interested individuals will receive consideration and will not be discriminated against for any reason. In this role you will integrate into a client team to provide a full range of language support, including processing written and audio materials, providing linguistic and cultural expertise, or supporting engagements with your translation, transcription, and interpretation skills. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and collaborate and engage with client personnel to further mission. Essential Job Duties + Read, write, and speak Spanish at a fluent or native level. + Gist, summarize, and translate Spanish printed, electronic, or audio/visual material into clear, understandable, and idiomatically correct English. + Review foreign and domestic websites and produce analytic reports in a specified format. May be responsible for populating spreadsheets. + Review a broad range of information sources, identify information of value, and summarize content in a succinct, understandable format that retains linguistic and cultural nuance while following the customer's Operations and Style Guide. + Leverage knowledge of culture, media, and language of target area to provide customer insights from translated materials. + Use a variety of computer programs including Microsoft Office products and SharePoint. Must be able to learn new tools and applications specific to the customer. + Some positions may be required to provide interpretation services for meetings or other engagements. Services could include simultaneous or consecutive interpretation while preserving the nuance of speaker. + Some positions may require travel. **Qualifications** Minimum Requirements + Bachelor's Degree. + The federal government requires all linguists on this contract to obtain and maintain a security clearance. This security clearance requires U.S. citizenship. + Prior to beginning work, candidates must complete the process for a fully adjudicated TS/SCI (with poly) security clearance. SOSi will sponsor qualified candidates for clearance. + Minimum of five years of experience in translation support. + Candidates must possess native or near native competency in Spanish. Competency will be determined by standardized language exams which must be completed as part of the application process. + Candidate must be familiar with the culture, media, and linguistic nuance of Spanish. + Candidates must possess excellent English written and verbal communication skills. Competency will be determined by a standardized exam which must be completed as part of the application process. + Experience in using SharePoint and Microsoft Office, ability to learn additional programs and applications as needed. + For positions requiring travel, candidates will be required to maintain a passport and secure medical clearance. Preferred Qualifications + Active in-scope TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph. + Degrees from countries where Spanish is natively spoken. + Master's degree in a related field. + Experience in the US intelligence, military, cryptographic, or law enforcement communities. **Additional Information** **Work Environment** + Full-time onsite work. No possibility of remote work. + Opportunities for OCONUS travel on a TDY basis, in some cases for one to three months.     The Unconventional is seeking a highly skilled Chinese-Mandarin Linguist/Translator to support a short-term training development support project supporting the American College of Surgeons (ACS). The project is expected to last no more than 30-days and will include translation and voice-over work in the development of multi-media virtual training material. Specific duties may include, but are not limited to: Will provide linguistic subject matter expertise. Translate medical texts and documents from English into Chinese-Mandarin Provide voice-over recordings of provided material into Chinese-Mandarin. Perform other such duties as customarily assigned to this type of work. Requirements Required Qualifications: Must possess professional proficiency (ILR 4) or higher in the Chinese-Mandarin language across all four modalities (listening, speaking, reading, and writing). Fluently speak, read, and write English. Know specialized vocabulary (and terminology) in both English and Chinese-Mandarin related to medical terminology Translate in a manner that is factually and conceptually accurate without changes, omissions, or additions. Preserve the tone and register of source language materials. Must possess your own equipment to support the work to include a reliable internet connection. Desired Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher within the medical field. Previous experience supporting similar work. Clearance: Must be able to pass a background check. Location: Remote / Virtual Travel: Travel is not anticipated.
