Ultrasound Technologist (PRN) The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for performing diagnostic medical sonography examinations using high-frequency sound waves to visualize internal organs, tissues, and vascular structures. The technologist ensures high-quality imaging to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating medical conditions while providing compassionate patient care and maintaining patient safety. Qualifications • Education: Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program. • Certification: ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography). • Experience: 1+ year of clinical ultrasound experience preferred; new graduates considered. Skills Proficiency in abdominal, OB/GYN, vascular, small parts, and/or other specialty imaging. Strong attention to detail and ability to recognize normal vs. abnormal findings. Responsibilities Independently operates equipment to perform a variety of complex sonographic examinations ranging from routine to highly specialized Reviews requisitions to assure that the patient history and anatomical area of interest is consistent with the exam(s) requested; examinations performed includes abdomen for tumors, cysts, abscesses, hematomas, inflammatory lesions, and the size and location of organs; evaluations of the abdominal aorta for aneurysm and/or dissection, and chest exams for pleural effusions will also be performed Conducts neck, carotid artery, leg vein, and artery examinations Also assists Radiologists during invasive procedures and performs all types of gynecological ultrasound exams Performs quantitative Doppler measurements to determine blood flow profiles when indicated Must have knowledge of appropriate use of color flow/power Doppler to further evaluate areas for vascular patency/pattern Qualifications Have a current and valid ARDMS license and required to be licensed in Abdomen or RVT. Summary: The Vascular Ultrasound Sonographer, under the direction of Vascular Surgeon, Radiologist, Cardiac Surgeon, and Manager of Diagnostic Cardiology will perform Vascular imaging for Geriatric patients in various body planes which results in the production of quality images for diagnostic interpretation. The performance of the tests requires the use of duplex ultrasound instruments as well as various plethysmographic instruments and non-invasive arterial pressure measurement techniques. Provides patient care that is essential to ultrasound imaging and recognizes patient conditions requiring immediate action. Initiates life support measures. Assists in the optimization of patient flow and study completion. Job Duties: 1.Performs quality Vascular studies according to established departmental protocols. Applies appropriate test to arrive at the results based on presenting symptoms and indications. 2. Reports results of Vascular testing to the referring physician and other pertinent medical staff personnel in a timely manner. 3. Completes and maintains associated reports through patient electronic medical records. 4. Proficiently applies the universal protocol with all procedures in accordance with hospital policy. 5. Perform and documents equipment and sonographer quality control according to department/accrediting body protocol. 6. Recognizes and reports any equipment malfunctions or environmental issues to management, maintenance, and clinical engineering. 7. Reports and documents all critical ultrasound findings to appropriate physicians and medical personnel. 8. Cleans and inspects equipment, including transducers after usage 9.Keeps work area neat, clean, and stocked with supplies. 10. Attends and participate in monthly staff meetings Qualifications Requirements: High School Diploma. Must be a Registered Vascular Technologist with a minimum of 3 years of experience. Must have successfully completed an accredited Vascular program that is approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program. Three years of experience as a Vascular Sonographer. Able to work independently. Must be proficient in using selective PACS/EPIC systems. Current registration by ARDMS/ BLS certified.
