Key Responsibilities of the Sous Chef:
Oversees and manages food preparation for a specific area of the kitchen. Supervises and ensures production of consistently high quality food. Assists the Manager in interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work, evaluating performance, rewarding, and disciplining associates: addressing complaints and resolving problems. Assists in the management of department members that may include, but is not limited to: Cooks, Stewards. Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
Minimum Qualifications for the Sous Chef:
Associate's degree (AA); or two to three years of related experience and/or training.

Responsibilities:

- Being in compliance with all record keeping, food safety and risk management requirements are essential


Qualifications:


- Maintains a current ServSafe® certificate (food services sanitation certificate) or able to participate in the food services sanitation training to become ServSafe® certified


- One (1) year job related experience including food preparation, full-line menu items and therapeutic diets


- A culinary apprenticeship or training is preferred


- A high School diploma or GED accepted

- Ability to handle multiple priorities
- Possess written and verbal skills for effective communication, be competent in organizational, time management skills and demonstrate good judgment, problem solving and decision making skills
- Ability to serve seniors in a team environment
- Prior long term care and supervisory experience is preferred

Job Description:

Sous Chef:

Responsible for total kitchen production in absence of the Executive Chef or Executive Sous Chef.
