    Job Description Paramedic Department: EmServ Shift: Days Reports to: Department Director Created: 5/8/25 This position provides quality paramedic services. Provides initial assessment, proper treatment intervention (invasive and noninvasive) to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients in need of emergency and nonemergency medical care in the pre-hospital environment. This position is governed by the operating medical protocols, policy and procedure of South Central Regional Medical Center as approved by Administration, Medical Director, and the Mississippi State Department of Health, BEMS. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Professional Responsibilities: • Provide quality paramedic services to patients. • Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with patients, families, first responders, co-workers, supervisors, dispatchers, staff in other locations, and other members of the public. • Plan and prioritize daily work to maximize productivity and efficiently manage time. • Provide leadership and guidance for AEMT, EMT, EMS Drivers, Wheelchair drivers, new employees, and students. • Performs duties in an independent manner with little or no direct supervision but seeks guidance when appropriate. • Proper documentation of all assigned calls and correct completion of those medical records. • Assure equipment is properly checked, present, and ready for safe service. QualificationsEducation and Experience • Current NREMT Paramedic and preferred MSDH Paramedic License (MSDH License can be applied for after initial hire but must be maintained during employment). • Current MSDL and preferred MSDH EMS Driver's license (MSDH EMS Driver can be obtained after initial hire but must be maintained during employment). • Preferred Current ACLS and PALS Certifications (can be obtained after initial hire but must be maintained during employment). • Prefer FEMA ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800 classes. • Positive Team Attitude Working Conditions Contacts: Physicians, nurses, other hospital departments, coworkers, other ambulance services, students. What you will do Works collaborately with other Pediflite team members to provide high quality pre-hospital and inter-facility advanced critical care. Transports patients via ground or air while practicing in accordance with philosophy, policies, procedures, and standards of the hospital. Functions within the guidelines of the protocols for the transport program. Responsible for assisting the team leader in obtaining pertinent neonatal and child hood histories, performing physical assessments and management plans. Performs necessary diagnostic and therapeutic procedures within the scope of practice of a paramedic. Identifies, plans, implements, and evaluates the stabilization of emergency care of the acutely ill neonates, infants, children, and/or adolescents as team lead or in collaboration with the team leader and medical control physicians. Performs diagnosistic and therapeutic procedures as indicate for identification and management of problems including airway management and assessment. This include but not limited to endotracheal intubation and mechanical ventilation. Functions as a medical flight member by attending pre-mission briefings and mission debriefings and completes necessary documentation. Assists in pre-mission liftoff checklist and assists pilot as requested, i.e., radio, navigational, and visual observation activities. Complies with safety standards to assure safety of self, medical personnel, patient, and equipment. Conducts aircraft safety briefings as needed. May perform as team leader and assist in delivery of patient care using age and developmentally appropriate interventions according to individual licensure, departmental protocols, and standards of care.
