South College has roots dating back to 1882, when Jacob T. Johnson founded a branch of Nashville Business College in Knoxville, Tennessee.

South College and its library have come a long way since 1882, when Jacob T. Johnson opened a branch of Nashville Business College in the heart of the downtown business district in Knoxville, Tennessee.

2001

By 2001, Knoxville Business College had long since grown beyond offering just business classes, and the name was officially changed to South College.

2005

In 2005, the school relocated from 5th Avenue to a larger facility on Hayfield Road in West Knoxville.
