Position Summary
A career in GIS within the Engineering Services group, will provide the opportunity to map existing utilities for land development, asset management and utility projects. This typically includes generating a variety of GIS products and performing data searches and retrievals. Additionally, this includes assisting in the design, development, testing and implementation of GIS applications to meet customer needs and enterprise requirements; developing and maintaining GIS databases; and keeping track of utility information received from various sources and perform data conversion from field survey and record documents.
Essential Functions:
* Converts as-built data onto the GIS system ensuring that quality and turnaround time metrics are consistently met
* Creates maps, drawings and reports for internal and external customers ensuring that quality and turnaround time metrics are consistently met
* Provides subject matter expertise, training and fundamental system support on SJI geospatial issues
* Support the plan, design and implementation of asset integration and migration projects
* Performs QA/QC checks on spatial edits within GIS utilizing Data Reviewer
* Converts data to be entered into GIS from a variety of formats
* Prepare value added project documents and reports
* Working knowledge of geodatabases, georeferencing and spatial and attribute data entry and editing
* Work with existing GIS standards and assist development and roll-out of new procedures
Qualifications
Required Background:
* Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, or closely related field with 0-2 years of relevant experience
* Preferred degrees include GIS and/or Geography. Other acceptable degrees include Environmental Science/Planning with strong coursework in GIS
* Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of degree

Summary of Essential Job Duties
Provides supervision for all CU environmental program field staff within the state.

About the Opportunity
This is an open position with Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L), a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [JCPL]
This position, located in Holmdel, NJ or Morristown, NJ, reports under the general supervision of the Regional Distribution Control Center staff. All candidates must live within a 45-minute commute time to the Holmdel or Morristown office.
The estimated pay range for this role is $87,210 - $123,120.
Responsibilities include:
Monitoring the day-to-day operations of the regional distribution system
Demonstrating a solid commitment to all aspects of safety, including adherence to the Accident Prevention Handbook (APH) and Manual of Operations
Recommending operational improvements and communicating system events to appropriate personnel
Demonstrating sound internal and/or external customer service
Operating the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Energy Management System (EMS), Automated Mapping/Facilities Management (GIS) computer system, PowerOn Outage Management System (OMS), Energy Delivery Outage Application (EDOA), DCC Notification System, as well as radio and telephone systems
Analyzing and acting promptly in cases of system disturbance so that the system can be restored to a normal configuration
Providing technical analysis, monitoring systems, scheduling and/or authorizing FirstEnergy distribution equipment outages and load transfers
Developing detailed scenarios to identify operating problems caused by contingency outages
Assigning and directing switching activities and work assignments to field personnel
Monitoring system and weather conditions
Coordinating staffing requirements by calling additional resources to handle emergencies
Completing training and development to progress to the Regional Distribution System Operator level
Possessing basic understanding of Bargaining Unit Agreements with field labor
Qualifications:
Associate's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering/Electrical Engineering Technology, or related certification from an accredited institution is required.
Or minimum of 2 - 4 years' related work experience will be considered. Related work experience includes work experiences with demonstrated understanding to operate the distribution system.
Pass the Edison Electric Institute (EEi) System Operator/Power Dispatching Test (SO/PD II)
Capable of effective performance in problem solving, multi-tasking and teamwork
Demonstrate effective performance in prioritizing work for efficient and safe operations
Knowledge of, or ability to learn Transmission and Distribution operation, maintenance and construction practices, procedures, work methods, materials, equipment and tools to operate the distribution system
Strong reading and comprehension skills to effectively interpret switching requests, engineering drawings, schematics, equipment instruction manuals, standards and procedures used to develop distribution switching orders
Possess skills in the development, collection, organization and analysis of information from a variety of sources to develop switching orders and recommendations
Strong oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with customers, supervisors, peers, employees, and contractors involved with the construction, operation and maintenance of the Transmission and Distribution facilities
Demonstrate a questioning attitude to learn, produce results and develop relationships
Sufficient maturity to exercise independent judgment on moderately complex projects and assignments
Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills to make quick assessments and deliver well-thought decisions, when situations require
Knowledge of, or ability to learn, specific mainframe and computer applications
Able to remain professional in high stress, high volume work environment

We are currently seeking a dedicated Meter Technician to join our skilled and passionate team. What You'll Do:
Plan, schedule and coordinate meter upgrades from Transdata to SEL 735. Maintain accurate database(s) on all meters in the field and inventory including programming files, transformer losses, load profile configurations, power quality measures, and communication addresses.
Wire PT and circuits for metering and DFR installations using correct polarity
Do necessary programming and commissioning for meter interface with the RTU and SCADA.
Troubleshoot and repair any Transdata or SEL meters to ensure accurate metering.
Troubleshoot any communication issues, phone line or IP, to assist MV-90 in getting meter data in a timely fashion.
Download HHF files for billing and end of month reads where communications cannot be established.
Perform accuracy tests on Radian test sets every 90 days for ERCOT compliance.
Assists specific member cooperatives with Landis & Gyr PLX troubleshooting, repairs, and decommissioning, as necessary.
Perform power quality audits as part of the PQ monitoring program. Work with member coops to capture and assess power quality issues and help determine a resolution.
Maintain a test schedule to achieve 100% yearly testing on all meters.
Interface with meter engineer on test equipment issues, meter programming changes, and EPS meter site certifications.
Capture, validate and provide field documentation on EPS meters for required records retention by ERCOT.
Provide recommendations for repair or replacement of test equipment.
Maintain a record of distribution and EPS meter testing and yearly test reports. Have this available for reference in the event of an audit or questions regarding meter accuracy.
Obtain ERCOT Qualified Meter Inspector designation after 1yr of testing experience.
