Harbor's Edge is recruiting for a
Chief Operations Officer/Vice President of Operations
to be responsible for the organization's strategic direction and operations. This is key executive leadership position is accountable to the Chief Executive Officer and will lead, support, and oversee the operational and financial health, sales and marketing success, human resources, and regulatory compliance of our expanding Community.
Harbor's Edge is a premier resort-style and not-for-profit Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) located on the harbor in Norfolk, Virginia. Harbor's Edge completed a $225 million expansion earlier in 2022 ( ) called the River Tower that includes an additional 24-story tower, doubling the square footage, adding 147 residential living units and 20 assisted living units. Harbor's Edge has 300 residential units in two Towers in addition to a small Skilled Nursing unit and 80 Assisted Living/Memory Care units. The Community employs approximately 300 employees, and current annual revenues are approximately $30 Million.
The COO/VP of Operations' primary focus will be on optimal execution of the strategic plan, operational excellence and compliance, continuous improvement, achievement of occupancy, budgetary and stretch goals, and ensuring that Harbor's Edge is an employer of choice in the greater Tidewater area.
The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of progressively responsible leadership experience, preferably within a CCRC or other senior care environment, and will hold at least a bachelor's degree, with an advanced degree preferred. Previous experience as a COO or other senior-level executive is preferred. The selected finalist is a skilled and articulate oral and written communicator who presents a positive professional presence and sets a high bar for inspirational, inclusive, and approachable leadership. S/he is strongly committed to the growth and development of employees, resident satisfaction, and ensuring an organizational focus on continuous improvement.
