Assist store manager with operating a grocery and general merchandise store in rural Alaska. Responsibilities include supervising and motivating employees, ordering merchandise, ensure customer service and product quality, freshness and selection. Coordinates and assists store manager with operations to control costs, meet target labor, maintain projected margins, and meet or exceed sales goals. Maintains and replenishes stock in a safe and efficient manner to meet customer purchasing needs. Maintains an atmosphere of friendly, courteous customer service with an emphasis of taking care of the customer. The Assistant Store Manager position generally works 8 to 12 hour shifts, depending upon the season; and requires working at least 6 days, and potentially 7 days, per week during the peak spring and summer season.



  • Have a minimum of 2 years experience in a volume grocery retail store with an understanding of ordering and merchandising perishables.
  • Strong organizational, planning and time management skills.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
