Southeast Community College company history timeline

1973

1973 SCC began offering the Emergency Medical Technician program through the NC Office of Emergency Medical Services.

1973 - The college's name is changed to Southeast Technical Community College Area; Doctor Robert Eicher is hired as president of the newly-formed college.

1974

1974 Police Science Program Established, Began offering night classes at Brunswick Co.

1975

1975 - SCC receives the former John J. Pershing College campus and begins remodeling.

1977

1977 Criminal Justice Degree offered which evolved into current Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET), More buildings were added to the campus to accommodate growth.

1979

The current Lincoln Campus at 8800 O St began in 1979.

1980

In 1980, the agriculture program was relocated from the Milford Campus to Beatrice.

1982

1982 The Emergency Medical Tech training was expanded to the EMT-Intermediate and EMT-Paramedic programs.

1986

1986 Small Business Center & Library Opened.

Since 1986, SCC has added a number of facilities and land to its Beatrice Campus.

1989

1989 EMT-Defibrillation Program was established.

1991

1991 Partnership with Brunswick Electric began.

1995

1995 - SCC purchases the ground floor at 1111 O St in downtown Lincoln known as Energy Square.

1999

SCC helped develop the Iowa Community College Online Consortium (ICCOC). The Consortium was founded in 1999 to offer online courses and resources for seven participating Iowa community colleges.

2004

2004 - SCC purchases Continuing Education Center at 301 S. 68th St Place, Lincoln.

2006

2006 - SCC purchases Entrepreneurship Center at 285 S. 68th St Place, Lincoln.

2011

A community assessment conducted in 2011 in partnership with the SECFC and tenants, residents and community leaders identified that the aging building needed substantial physical improvements for better programming and to increase neighborhood usage.

2011 - SCC purchases second floor of Energy Square building (now Education Square) at 1111 O St, Lincoln.

2014

Also in 2014, the SFPUC began plans to renovate a vacant five-acre property on the corner of Third and Evans (1550 Evans) for the purpose of providing office space to SFPUC wastewater personnel, that were dispersed in multiple leased locations in the Southeast.

2014 - Jack J. Huck retires after 20 years as president.

2014 - Doctor Paul Illich is hired as SCC's fourth president.

2016

The SFPUC elected to conduct a transparent and inclusive outreach process in collaboration with 16 Bayview community partners in 2016.

2016 - The first of six Learning Centers opens.

2017

2017 - A ribbon-cutting ceremony is held July 18 officially opening the Learning Center at Hebron.

2019

In 2019, the college ranked 11th in total enrollment in the state with 3,797 students, 9th in the number of joint enrollment students and 10th in the percentage of students taking part in distance learning.
