Position Description JOB TITLE: Medical Assistant DEPARTMENT: Clinical FLSA STATUS: Non Exempt JOBS SUPERVISED: None SUPERVISOR: Clinical Supervisor GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:Definition: Under direct supervision, the Medical Assistant works interdependently with other health care professionals to provide quality health care to the patient. The Medical Assistant is educated and trained to perform both administrative and clinical skills in the medical care environment. The Medical Assistant must be flexible and able to cover all non managerial aspects of the clinic but able to spot problems and recommend solutions management. RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Clinical Main Activities: Ability to room patients following each individual provider policy Ability to enter electronic lab orders and manage EMRs Ability to process prescription refills Ability to enter charges Ability to set up for treadmill testing, stress echos and tilt table testing. Ability to accurately complete encounter notes Answer and return calls in a timely manner Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner Ability to resolve patient related issues that arise 2. Administrative Main Activities: Ability to request records, scan records, and process patient referrals Accurately enter patient information in the EMR 3. Scheduling Main Activities: Ability to schedule, reschedule, cancel, no shows, block templates and scrub provider schedules for errors Ability to provide detailed instructions for scheduled test 4. Other duties as assigned KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Knowledge Must have proficient knowledge in the following areas: Medical Terminology Knowledge of clinic policies and procedures for all sites, providers and rooms Knowledge of computer systems, spreadsheets and application Knowledge of operating the standard clinical equipment Knowledge of HIPPA policies Knowledge of OSHA and safety policies Skills Must demonstrate the following skills: Excellent interpersonal skills Team building skills Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergent situation Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence and memos. CPR certification must be acquired within 6 months of appointment. A minimum 1 year cardiology or primary care experience. Equivalencies will be considered. ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS: Office settings and traveling to off-site locations PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS: The Medical Assistant will spend long hours sitting, walking, standing and using office equipment and computers, which can cause muscle strain. The Medical Assistant will also have to do some varied activities including stooping, bending, reaching, lifting, kneeling and crouching. Requires eye-hand coordination, finger dexterity, talking, hearing and specific vision abilities including depth perception, distance vision and ability to adjust focus. The Aesthetic Medical Assistant - Support will act as liaison between front office and provider for ensuring timely and orderly client flow. This role will be responsible for back-office functions including client preparation, support of health care providers and clinic operations in a manager that promotes quality client care. The MA will report to the clinic manager, who will help determine provider support assignments to maximize clinic productivity. This role also includes assisting with rebooking and product sales to further enhance operational efficiency.
