Should be experienced in regulatory agency survey readiness. Performs preventative maintenance to ensure upkeep of physical plant/equipment of hospital. Responsibilities Troubleshoots and diagnoses electrical and mechanical device malfunctions (pumps, boilers, engines, motors, conveyor systems, laboratory equipment, etc.). Repairs or replaces defective parts, lubricates and equipment. Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals and manufactures specifications, with hand and power tools and precision measuring and testing instruments. Performs corrective and preventive maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration equipment. Replaces or repairs damaged or worn heating ventilation and air conditioning parts and equipment. Inspects and services, including urgent corrective routine and requisitioned repair, HVAC equipment. Assists in maintaining and repairing HVAC controls and associated equipment. Performs preventive maintenance on all types of equipment per facility schedule. Calibrates thermostatic controls and pressure differential gauges. Maintains awareness and upkeep of the physical plant of the hospital. Completes frequency preventive inspections and testing on emergency generators, automatic transfer switches, fire pump, fire life safety systems, nurse call systems, bulk oxygen and medical gas systems. Fires boilers and controls generation of a continuous supply of steam for heating hospital buildings and to power machinery and auxiliary equipment. Inspects and observes pressures of liquid and vapor with instrumentation to ensure efficient operation. Takes conscious ownership for work and takes a proactive, deliberate, and thoughtful approach regarding work activities. Demonstrates appropriate use of independent judgement and decision making. Demonstrates excellent customer service at all times. Maintains confidentiality in accordance with hospital/corporate policies and HIPAA privacy regulations. Complies with all hospital fire and safety rules. The therapy intervention facilitates quality of life with the development, maintenance, growth, and expression of a healthy leisure lifestyle. The continuum of services includes treatment, leisure education, and recreation participation. Responsibilities Conducts an individualized assessment to collect data to determine a course of action for treatment. Plans and develops an individualized treatment plan and identifies goals and objectives with treatment interventions to restore and improve function from the disability. Plans, leads, and engages the patient in structured therapeutic groups according to their treatment goals. Counsels and educates patients. Ensures documentation and outcomes are recorded for each group. Attends required milieu meetings. Reassess and evaluates patient's progress relative to the treatment plan, based on the changes in the interventions and patient responses. Modifies the patient treatment plan and interventions as needed. Develops a discharge plan based on the outcomes of the treatment. Attends interdisciplinary, treatment planning, and rehab. meetings as scheduled. Develops a discharge plan in collaboration with the patient and significant others to continue treatment upon discharge. Facilitates mainstreaming the patient into the community with recommended resources. Ensures patient safety in all groups. Maintains accountability for equipment according to hospital policy to ensure patient safety. Ensures infection control and HIPPA compliance. Ethical code of conduct adhering to providing patient services that are professional. Provide empathy, compassion, understanding, and support to patients. Demonstrate care appropriate for the age, cultural, religious, gender, or ethnic background. Engages in caring behaviors, taking conscious ownership for work and takes deliberate/thoughtful actions regarding how to best carry out interactions with the patient, families, physician, and co-workers. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Current Certification as a Recreation/Rehab Therapist (National, CTRS or State, RTC or eligible for certification) OR Certification/License as an Art Therapist, Music Therapist or Dance Movement Therapist Bachelor's Degree in related fields such as, Art, Music, Dance Movement, Psychology, Sociology, Kinesiology, and Education from an accredited college or university Minimum six (6) months of experience in recreational/rehab therapy within a psychiatric hospital, acute care hospital, or community recreation setting, which may include facilitating arts or music activities, leading counseling or exercise groups, conducting social behavior research, or teaching and leading recreational programs. AHA Basic Life Support Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays Ability to maintain flexibility and composure in a constantly changing environment Management of Assaultive Behavior Certification upon hire Hospital Fire and Life Safety Card (Hollywood and Van Nuys only) within 30 days after start of employment Preferred Qualifications: Two (2) years experience as a Recreational/Rehabilitation Therapist in an acute care hospital or community setting Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families Pay Rate: Min - $31.74 | Max - $42.64
