Faculty, AAS in Nursing Program SUMMARY OF THE JOB: The instructor works under the direction of the Program Dean. Teaches theory and practical applications using instructional methods and teaching skills in the classroom, clinical practicum, simulation and skills laboratory; tracking student attendance and progress; setting educational objectives for the students; continuing curriculum development to strengthen the curricula/courses taught; on-going mentoring students; retention; attentive to the continued needs of our students; obligated to continued self-improvement; and maintaining a satisfactory working relationship with our students, faculty, and staff. Participate in training, preparation, and continuing education in instructional methods and teaching skills. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Classroom Instruction (40:1 ratio} * Teaches assigned number of classes using the prescribed courses of study with established texts and/or prescribed instructional materials. * Uses additional instructional resources such as guest speakers, field trips, films, interactive media and active learning activities to enhance the learning process. * Holds conferences with students on a scheduled and as needed basis. * Maintains classroom in good physical order. * Enters classroom at designated time with all necessary materials. Begins and ends class on time. * Responsible and accountable for supervising students in a laboratory and/or clinical setting for respective course(s) taught. The Assistant Campus Director is responsible for assisting the Campus Director with the vision, leadership and direction of the Southern Careers Institute campus. This position is responsible for assisting the Campus Director in their management and oversight duties of campus operations, education, admissions, financial aid, career services and maintenance of facilities. This position interacts with students and staff to maximize employee effectiveness, grow student enrollment, and maximize completion and placement rates. Assists in the daily operational effectiveness, maintenance and compliance of campus and directors of departments. Responsibilities * Coordinates clinical site selection, affiliation agreements, and rotation schedule for the AAS in Nursing program * Supervises and evaluates clinical faculty performance. * Makes regular on-site clinical agency visits * Attends the pre-course clinical coordinating meetings with clinical faculty and agency staff * Provides support to and mentors faculty in their role as clinical educators. * Coordinates orientation of faculty to assigned clinical sites * Responsible for faculty plan to insure inter-rater reliability in the clinical evaluation process. * Provides input into faculty evaluations. * Assists in assuring faculty are present in clinical sites per teaching assignments. * Covers for or arranges coverage for faculty absences from clinical site assignments. * Participates through Faculty Assembly, in curriculum development, implementation and evaluation * Participates through Faculty Assembly, in development, implementation and enforcement of standards/policies for admission, progression, probation and dismissal of students. * Maintains expertise/competence in area of specialty by attending conferences, seminars and/or schools as required; reads and keeps current on latest technology and requirements in the area of specialty. Clinical Coordinator, AAS in Nursing Program SUMMARY OF THE JOB: To provide leadership and to effectively supervise and mentor faculty in the delivery of educational services in the clinical learning environment. Serves as a liaison to clinical facilities and to clinical faculty. Facilitates the maintenance of positive relationships and coordination of clinical scheduling for students with all clinical facilities used by the nursing program.
