PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY: Safely pack product glued on the machine to acquire quality product at the desired target speed of each run. SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITY: Packing can be done independently or as at team depending on the product and run speed of the carton produced Bag product as required and fill a corrugated case with the proper case count by picking up the blanks and placing them uniformly into the case ensuring proper fit, and notifying the Supervisor or lead of any issues Maintains quality standards by learning defective characteristic for products, sorting defective parts, and communicating with Machine Operator, Supervisor, lead, and Quality Control staff Occasionally responsible for feeding when the operator is troubleshooting other machines. Feeding consists of removing blanks from a pallet, checking for quality of product, and placing them into the feed hopper of the gluer machine maintaining the hopper at proper load heights (continue text)der observes blanks flowing through the machine and watches for quality and jam-ups, and alerts the Operator of problems or stopping the machine Notifies the Operator before a new pallet of blanks is needed maintaining adequate blanks into the hopper to ensure there is no interruption in run speeds (feeder) Occasionally bands the pallets, running straps around the pallet using a bander, based on production needs Participates in teamwork: work with others to improve operations, reduce waste, maintain lean manufacturing goals and requirements, answer questions, and communicate with other staff as needed Cross trains by rotating to different machines and work areas Packs cartons according to work order instructions by verifying counts, weighing cartons, and following job ticket and labeling instructions Effectively utilizes any machine downtime (not including approved breaks) by performing other tasks associated with maintaining a clean work environment or as otherwise instructed by a supervisor or lead Communicates well with other team members Wears appropriate PPE for the task and the area. Welcomes updates and improvements to processes and follow new procedures and innovations, which would add to the efficiency and safety of the operation Performs work in a manner that keeps down time to a minimum Maintains a clean work environment in accordance with Food Safety and 5S systems Follows all safety related policies, rules, regulations, technical instructions, and guidelines. Use situational awareness and identify unsafe behaviors and conditions May be asked to help with duties in other areas or departments QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have basic computer skills and possess ability to utilize software. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must have the ability to read and understand documents, letters, etc. and write legibly in English.
