This position is responsible for coordination of the civil underground and structural tasks pertaining to substation construction projects, which includes civil site preparation, environmental compliance, civil construction methods, oversight of contract crews, communicating status of projects and providing technical expertise at job sites. This position also interfaces with the SCS Civil Design group to ensure material and design packages are ordered and received for each project initiation. Primary work location is set at the Operations Center in Gulfport, MS. There will be flexibility in the day-to-day work location, based on project locations and department needs.
**JOB REQUIREMENTS**
- Four-year engineering degree from an ABET accredited institution required.
- Civil engineering concentration or technical progression in civil site prep, environmental compliance pertaining to storm water is strongly preferred.
- Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) experience, heavy haul/lifting experience is preferred.
- Experience with civil site preparation related to soils, concrete foundation installation, and surveying and layout is preferred.
- Experience working with substation equipment, substation construction techniques and safe working practices is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required. Ability to learn budget and substation specific software required.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a Substation Construction team.
- Strong organizational skills and be able to balance multiple projects with different priorities.
- Ability to effectively communicate with groups inside and outside the company.
- Must exhibit leadership skills necessary to oversee construction projects to the desired goals.
- Willing to perform work outside of normal working hours during emergencies or as otherwise needed is required.

**MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ Coordinate the civil components and tasks of MPC Substation Construction projects, ensuring civil contractor crews meet milestones, job status is communicated, and customer value is kept in the forefront.
+ Coordinate the civil engineering activities with the SCS Design engineering organization.
+ Act as a Substation department contact for material issues related to civil construction projects, coordinating material delivery and resolving any discrepancies.
+ Oversee civil below ground, structural, fence, and surveying contract personnel when performing work on MPC Construction projects.
+ Provide support for department in emergency/after-hours events by coordinating the transport and connection of emergency mobile and portable substations and transformers.
+ Knowledge to assist MPC and SCS design engineering team and coordinate with the real estate group in procurement of proposed project site selection and evaluations.

The Energy Project Engineer conducts engineering work to develop and implement energy efficiency and energy production projects for customer facilities. Projects include energy efficiency upgrades and renewable energy systems. Energy Project Engineer is responsible for conducting and supporting engineering studies, analyses, and project development. Engineer supports awarded mechanical and construction projects from design through implementation.
Specifically responsible for the development and/or implementation of mechanical system retrofit/installation in customer facilities. Responsibilities include site investigations, analyzing energy use, preparing savings calculations, developing cost estimates, and preparing written reports. In addition, the engineer supports engineering and design for implementation of design-build projects. Candidate must be familiar with facility systems including chilled and hot water systems, air handling systems, building controls, and electrical distribution systems. The engineer works with other EES team members, and interfaces with customers, subconsultants, product vendors, subcontractors, and others to support projects. + 5+ years of experience working MEP Engineering projects.

The incumbent is responsible for the coordination, oversight and performance of all aspects of engineering projects including concepts design and development, drawings and specifications, projects scheduled, budget estimates, cost control, code compliance, etc. Engineers at this level typically work on projects with work order authorization starting in the $100,000 range. These incumbents work with other professionals who share responsibility for broader business processes providing support and advice to ensure project priorities follow PGW and other regulatory body standards.
Senior Staff Engineer- Is expected to pan, manage and coordinate individual and group efforts relating to the completion of multiple planning, engineering and architectural design project and assignments including research, proposed concept designs, formulation of budgets and cost estimates for customer review. The incumbent is expected to achieve specific project related goals within a previously determined budget and timeline, interact with customers to recognize and analyze engineering problems and generate solutions
including estimated costs to complete projects. In addition, to being capable of performing all the functions of lower-level peers, the Sr. Staff Engineer coordinates and establishes a consensus of approvals regarding designs, layouts, and equipment selections to facilitate resolutions. Impact of decisions can be measured within 3 to 6 months and on project timeline bases.

Assist in assigned technical projects using engineering methodology.
Assist in the research and assembly of instruction manuals outlining directives and equipment for assigned projects.
Assist in the coordination and implementation of engineering design concepts, prepare cost estimates, ascertain scheduling, specify equipment and materials, method of implementation and prepare design drawings and specifications related to departmental operational needs.
Assist in tracking project expenditure and project status as directed to facilitate construction activities relative to budget constraints, project schedules, equipment and materials expediting and tracking.
Assist in the analysis of historical engineering project design concepts, budgets, proposal, and technical solutions to assist in the development of future departmental budgets.
Assist area supervisors with the supervision of street crews and field technicians.
Attend craft and service training to acquire hands on experience.
May assume the duties of the Field Supervisor, General Supervisor, and Senior Staff Engineer in their absence.
Work with senior peers to perform calculations required to select materials, equipment, size structures, facilities, and systems; prepares and provides supporting information including price lists, quotes and prior contracts for estimates and project design costs for work order authorizations.
Attend project design team meetings to become familiar with customers, internal departments, contractors, etc. and learn coordination processes for implementation of project design concepts to ensure engineering standards follow all applicable, laws, regulations, codes, and industry standards.
Perform other special projects and assignments as directed.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or other related field of study is required.
Completed internship or co-operative experience with knowledge of general engineering principles.
Must have a valid Pennsylvania Driver's license and clean driving record.
Knowledge of City, State and Federal regulation, pipeline construction and corrosion control.
Knowledge of safety and hazardous situations associated with the construction and maintenance of facilities housing flammable gases and liquids under all weather conditions is preferred
Familiarity with city, state and federal regulations/codes and industry standards as they relate to the natural gas industry preferred.

Graduation from a four-year college or university with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program or state registration as a Professional Engineer. A Master's degree in engineering will be considered in lieu of the B. S. engineering degree.
