Analyzes AR and contractual accounts including balance sheet and income statement reserves, and understands the relationships which exist. Monitors cash related transactions. Monitors physician receivables and completes reports as required. Monitors grants, restricted donations and agency funds, completing reports as required. Analyzes and prepares Hospital Auxiliary financial data. Analyzes income statement account variances, determines operational explanation and corrects when appropriate. Analyzes, prepares and distributes financial reports. Collaborates with management, auditors, and others to answer questions and articulate variances regarding all aspects of the financial statements. Monitors and processes closing of Workday applications, including allocations, in conjunction with month-end close. Applies strong technical accounting knowledge, assisting with the integrity and accuracy of financial related activity throughout SIH. Assist with implementing and monitoring compliance with accounting standards Demonstrates advanced understanding of internal control risk and establishes and develops disciplines, sign off points and best practices ensuring compliance with standards. Maintains accurate, easy to follow, electronic procedures for each responsibility. Demonstrates ownership of work and interest in operational aspects of organization. The medical Physicist develops and accurately documents every components of the treatment machine parameters that reflect the accuracy of treatment plans, as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist, to assure the delivery of quality patient care free of any error on a daily basis. The Physicist is responsible for acceptance testing, commissioning, and maintaining the treatment machine within national guidelines as specified in AAPM guidelines as well as provide daily, monthly and annual QA programs for every piece of equipment used for patient treatment. Additionally, the Physicist provides validation of the treatment planning system for its accuracy as it relates to the patient. The Physicist is knowledgeable enough for safe operation of every available software for patient care and know the algorithms for dose calculation. This role is a go-to-person on technical component of the hardware/software and collaborates with other sections and supports the clinical needs of the department. Responsibilities: * Instrumental in acceptance testing and commissioning of new equipment, development of new treatment techniques, quantitative analysis of clinical data * Provide QA methodology for simulator, and treatment machines for daily, monthly and annual calibrations as well as documentation for state regulator (IEMA) * Develops methodology for image import, acquisition, and implementation of imaging modalities (CT, MRI, PET, PET/CT) for fusion and treatment planning * Implementation of complex treatment plans (IMRT, VMAT, IGRT, SBRT) as well as new technology * Assisting in ensuring that all treatment plans are optimized for the best patient care to NM standard and patients are treated in a safe and timely manner * Performs and verifies accuracy of treatment plans and dose calculations * Perform special procedures as needed (e.g. Brachytherapy, TBI, TSEI etc). * Provide or measure in-vivo dosimetry using appropriate detectors; TLDs, diodes, MOSFETS, film, etc., and records the results appropriately and informs physicians of the results and takes appropriate action as necessary * Perform patient related work such as support in simulation, initial chart check, weekly physics check and end of treatment chart check * Be a clinical resource to radiation oncologists, dosimetrists and radiation therapists * Adheres to all radiation safety policies and procedures, ensuring the safety of patients, visitors and staff at all times * Provide assistance for accurate billing and data reporting * Collects data to support the measurement and tracking components of regional quality management and identifies areas for potential improvement and recommends corrective actions * Takes a regional leadership responsibility for process improvement Qualifications Required: * Master's or PhD degree in Medical Physics or equivalent. * Board Certified in Therapeutic Radiology by the American Board of Radiology (ABR) or American College of Medical Physics (ABMP) or equivalent. * Licensed by the Illinois Emergency Management Agency. The Billing Coordinator is responsible for processing charges, payments and/or adjustments for all services rendered at all NM Corporate Health Clinics. Possesses extensive knowledge of coding, billing, insurance and collections procedures and coordinates the accounts receivable functions. Performs weekly claims, monthly late bills and patient statement runs and reviews accounts to be placed with an outside collection agency. RESPONSIBILITIES: Department Operations * Ensures patient demographic and billing/insurance information is kept current in the computer application. Documents all patient and company contacts. * Reviews daily clinic schedules and tracks receipt of documentation to assure completeness of charge capture. * Ensures notes are is placed in systems, clearly identifying steps taken, according to established procedures. * Works with patients/clients to establish payment plans according to predetermined procedures. * Handles all incoming customer service calls in a professional and efficient manner. Provides exceptional service to all customers, guarantors, patients, internal and external contacts. * Prepares itemized bill upon request; explains charges, payments and adjustments. Produces a clear and understandable statement to individuals on any outstanding account balance. * Responsible for timely submission of accurate bills and invoices to clients, patients and insurance companies. * Ensures timely posting of all charges, payments, denials and write-offs to the appropriate account, maintaining the highest level of quality for each transaction processed within 48 hours of receipt. * Responsible for balancing each payment and adjustment batch with reconciliation report and bank account deposits after completion. * Ensures compliant follow up procedures are followed, to third party payers regarding outstanding accounts receivables. * Run outstanding A/R reports, follow-up on unpaid claims or balances with insurance companies, patients, and collection agency, as defined by department. * Perform daily systematic review of accounts receivable to ensure all accounts ready to be worked are completed. * Recommend accounts for contractual or administrative write-off and provide appropriate justification and documentation. * Denials and appeals follow-up including root cause analysis to reduce/prevent future denials. * Reviews, prepares and sends pre-collection letters as defined by department procedures. * Identifies and sends accounts to outside collection agency. * Prepares and distributes reports that are required by finance, accounting, and operations. * Handles all work in an accurate and timely manner, consistently meets or exceeds productivity standards, quality standards, department goals and deadlines established by the team. * Practice HIPAA privacy standards and ensure compliance with patient health information privacy practices. * Identify opportunities for process improvement and submit to management. * Demonstrate proficient use of systems and execution of processes in all areas of responsibilities. Shift: Days Time Type: Full Time Facility/Clinic Name: Memorial Hospital of Carbondale Position Summary • Responsible for assisting the surgeon in performing a safe surgical procedure to maximize patient outcomes. Education • Associate's Degree from a surgical technology programs accredited through ARC/STSA, or an accredited Surgical First Assist training program (NBSTSA National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting). Licenses and Certification • Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate and Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA) and CSFA Certification within one year of employment and case log per NBTSA criteria. • Registered by the State of Illinois Experience and Skills • One year experience as a Surgical First Assist with at least 120 logged cases. Role Specific Responsibilities • Prepares rooms with appropriate instruments, sutures, supplies, and equipment necessary for area of specialty. Monitors and restocks supplies. • Completes skin preparation and draping • Opens sterile supplies and sets up for procedures. • Provides wound exposure through proper use of retractors so surgeon may clearly view operative site. • Through use of suction and sponges, provides a dry field of operation to permit optimum vision of tissue, viscera, vessels, etc. • Provides homeostasis by use of clamps, cautery, ligation, • May complete partial wound closure subcutaneous tissues and skin only under direct supervision of the surgeon. • Applies in application of special dressings such as circumferential elastic bandages and taping • Assists in maintaining correct count of instruments, sutures, and sponges. • Decontaminates instruments, supplies and equipment according to established policies and procedures; handles and stores instruments, equipment and supplies appropriately. • Communicates and interfaces with team members, patients, and medical staff to ensure high quality patient care. • Transports patients to and from Operating room suite; position patients according to type of surgery. • Performs biological and chemical monitoring in accordance with quality assurance standards. • Adheres to SIH organizational and department-specific safety, confidentiality, values, policies and standards. • Reports any unusual incidents to circulating nurse • Assists in identifying, collecting, and caring for specimens. • Assists in dismantling tables and instruments after procedure • Assembles special operating tables such as fracture tables, positioning devices • Provides knowledge of surgical anatomy, operative techniques related to the operative procedure. • Provides aid in exposure, hemostasis, closure, and other intraoperative duties, as well, as preoperative and postoperative duties under the direction and supervision of the surgeon.
