Job Description
The NM Internal Agency RN reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
A clinically competent, registered, professional nurse who prescribes, delegates and coordinates nursing care to the acutely ill patient through the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation and evaluation. Effectively interacts with patients, significant others, and other health team members, while maintaining ANA standards of professional nursing practice. The NM Internal Agency RN will be prepared to perform these duties at all NM hospitals as required by the schedule.
As a member of the NM Internal Agency RN Team, the nurse in this role will have assignments that span across all NM hospital locations. Generally, the minimum assignment at the same hospital location will be six (6) continuous weeks, with the maximum assignment not to exceed six (6) continuous months at the same hospital location. This position offers the RN the opportunity to enhance their clinical skills, as well as sharpen communication and teamwork. The NM Internal Agency RN works with many diverse people and grows relationships with fellow staff members all over Northwestern Medicine's system hospitals.
Responsibilities:
Collects and analyzes data, identifies expected outcomes, develops and implements an individualized plan, coordinates care delivery and evaluates progress toward attainment of outcomes.
Directs care and determines the appropriate utilization of any assistant involved in providing direct patient care.
Collaborates with patient, family and/or significant others, physicians and ancillary staff. Creates a documented plan, focused on outcomes and decisions related to the care and delivery of services that indicates communications with patients, families, and others.
Participates in shared decision making, committee work, and unit projects.
Evaluates and documents the patient's responses to nursing interventions in the health record and properly individualizes the plan of care based on the evaluation of findings.
Utilizes the best available evidence, including research findings to guide practice decisions.
Qualifications
Required:
Minimum of two years of inpatient med/surg, stepdown or ICU experience.
Current State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse
CPR - Basic Life Support
Strong interpersonal skills
Ability to collaborate with others
Strong analytic abilities
ADN - Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) with commitment to obtain a BSN from an accredited program within three years of first day of employment in clinical nurse role.
Preferred:
Previous RN experience in a float or coverage capacity in the inpatient hospital setting

The Galter Surgical Recovery Observation Unit (SROU) is a multifaceted surgical observation unit that provides exceptional care to ambulatory post-surgical patients with a high concentration in urological, endocrine, ENT, and minor general surgery procedures. Our nurses work collaboratively in the 10-bed observation unit to ensure that the patient has all the resources to be a successful short-stay patient beginning their care from the time that they arrive on the unit. This fast-paced, high patient turnover observation unit allows the nurses to advance their skillset with the use of critical thinking skills to provide evidence-based comprehensive nursing care while focusing on the importance of patient education upon discharge.

The Cardiac Transplant Intensive Care Unit (CTICU) is a multifaceted unit and is one of our highest acuity ICU floors at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Our nurses provide care to some of the most complex cardiac and pulmonary patients in the State of Illinois. The CTICU allows for nurses to advance their skill set by combining cutting-edge technology and critical thinking skills to provide evidence-based comprehensive nursing care to our highly complex patient population.

* Complex TAVR
* Impella Devices
* Cardiogenic Shock
* Multi Valve Replacement
* Heart and Lung Transplant
* Coronary Artery Bypass Graft
* Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumps(IABP)

* Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO)

Nurses have the opportunity to become departmental quality coaches, contribute to advancements in our evidence-based nursing care by participating in our LEAD (Lead, Excel and Develop) program to enhance care on the unit, become members of the organ procurement team (which allows for nurses to acquire donor organs) and they can also choose to receive specialized training to become an ECMO specialist.

The Nurse Researcher is responsible to advance regional nursing research and evidence-based practice to meet ANCC Magnet requirements as outlined in each local site's Nursing Strategic Roadmap
Responsibilities:
* Design and implement scientific nursing research studies for the regional hospitals
* Collect and analyze data and information throughout the research studies
* Compile research findings into a written manuscripts for application to scholarly journals and other publications
* Collaborates with system statistician program to ensure quality and integrity of data analysis
* Mentors and writes abstract writing for professional submissions
* Assists the team in grant writing for proposals and funding
* Present and support PI presentations of research outcomes regionally, system-wide, and nationally
* Present and support team to present results at conferences, meetings, professional organizations and other speaking engagements as poster and/or podium presentations
* Recruit participants for nursing research studies ensure protection of human subjects
* Assists nurses and members of the interdisciplinary team requesting scholarly articles and literature searches and serves as librarian resource
* Oversight of Nursing Research and EBP councils regionally
* Support, Educate and mentor EBP and research projects for nurse professional development (LEAD program), Nurse Residency Program, and the MENP program at Rosalind Franklin University and Lake Forest College
* Participates in driving robust mentoring structure for research, PI, and EBP across the region, meeting regularly with CPS and professional development team in support of new knowledge at the bedside (translational research).
* Responsible for ensuring and coordinating Magnet Research Projects/IRB support
* Participate in writing and editing Magnet documents for the region
* Collaborate with academic partners by participating on advisory councils and networking meetings to ensure robust NM student experiences through-out the region.

Education • Associate, Diploma, Bachelor Degree or Master's in Nursing
Licenses and Certification
• Current Illinois Registered Nurse license
• BLS
• ACLS, NRP, STABLE, TNS, TNCC, PALS, ENPC if applicable

Role Specific Responsibilities
• Assess patients to determine mental, physical, and spiritual needs
